A Fun Drugstore Haul For Fall: Maybelline Fall 2012

Lately I have stayed away from drugstore cosmetics because, let’s face it, all that has been out there is nail polish. For Fall 2012 the only company to put out a color story is Maybelline. It seems gone are the days of each company putting out a color collection that has numerous eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks and nail polishes. In this economy we are left with a scattering of those products every few months and we definitely inundated with an over abundance of nail polishes every few weeks! Granted, I love looking at them, but my nails are very soft and I wash them at least 30 times a day. Having nail polish on my finger nails doesn’t work out well. I leave it for my toe nails.

From the fall color story I purchased (luckily on sale), four eyeshadow palettes. I really like Maybelline’s Eyestudio eyeshadows. They have great pigment and with an eyeshadow primer they wear very well. Some fallout is to be expected because the eyeshadows are very soft. There is from the left to right: Olive Martini (which has an amazing shimmering blue green), Sea Sprite, Smokey Cinnamon and Cozy Cashmere. All of the colors are great for the warmed toned woman/girl. If you have cool tones I would say go for Olive Martini.

There were a number of lipsticks, most of which were creams. I found three that I liked. The Color Sensational formula is also a pretty good formula for a drugstore lipstick. It has pigmentation and wears very well. From left to right is: Tenacious Taupe (a creamy Taupe), Brown to Earth (shimmery bronze) and Strike a Rose (shimmery mauve rose).

This is the the first time I have purchased the Color Show nail polishes. I just couldn’t help but get these colors, because they all looked gorgeous! These are right up my alley. I haven’t tried any of them yet, but I am itching to try Boho Gold (the greenish-gold tone on the left). Next I want to use Downtown Brown (reddish brown with green shimmer, next to Boho Gold). Avante Green and Pink Cosmo are in the running. I am so amazed at how much I like this collection!

I did a look with the color collection. I took the shimmery reddish cinnamon color from the Smokey Cinnamon palette and used it in my crease, I used the shimmery gold color on the lid and the white shimmer under the brow. From Olive Martini I used the shimmery blue-green on the outer part of the lid and under the eye. For mascara I used Great Lash Lots of Lashes in Black. On my lips I used Tenacious Taupe. I wasn’t fond of the blushes, they were too dark for me, so I used one of my other Maybelline blushes (a coral).

Tomorrow I will be reviewing the Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation. I am wearing it today and so far, so good. But I really need to wear it a full day to see how it goes.

    1. I tried using the beige color as an eyeshadow base. My shadows creased. :(. I hope you can find them! Now I am looking for the new L'Oreal items, I have some and they look very nice.
