Review: Aromatherapy Associates Soothing Skincare

INTRO SET BOX

Being an Esthetician I really love that I get to try all kinds of different skincare, especially when I give myself a deep peel and my skin is burning, itching and in need of some soothing! Just recently I was able to try out a lovely brand called Aromatherapy Associates. This brand, based in London, has been a leading expert in aromatherapy for over 30 years. The founders, Geraldine Howard and Sue Beechey, have been together teaching, practicing and blending oils since 1985 and the world’s leading spas and hotels now carry their lovely products. I was lucky enough to try out the Soothing Introductory Set, which is indeed very soothing and also luxurious to the skin.

The set includes:

Soothing Cleansing Balm

Soothing Cleansing Balm and Treatment Mask

This product starts out as a very thick balm, with a wonderful fragrance. It has Omega oils to cleanse and hydrate; licorice and chamomile to leave skin feeling calm and soothed. As soon as the water hits it, it turns into a regular cleanser that really takes off makeup and rinses cleanly leaving skin fresh, soft and supple. It doesn’t leave any residue on the skin. This cleansing balm is amazing stuff! $52.00/£36.00/100ml

Soothing Treatment Mask

Soothing Cleansing Balm and Treatment Mask

An intense moisturizing mask with naturally active hyaluronic acid and millet seed to deeply hydrate and plump up the skin. Licorice and cotton thistle extract will visibly smooth the skin’s texture and support the natural moisture barrier. Packed with ingredients such as safflower oil, evening primrose oil, Vitamin E, strawberry seed oil, prickly pear stem extract and many other soothing ingredients, this mask calms redness and irritation while providing anti-oxidants for fine lines. Deeply soothing to the skin, leaving it looking radiant! This mask is an SOS for skin that needs some extra help. Great for after peels, sun exposure or anytime skin is deeply dehydrated. $72.00/£51.00/100 ml

Soothing Face Oil

Instant Skin Soothing Facial Oil and Soothing Facial Oil

I have discussed before that facial oils are the “in” thing. That doesn’t mean that all of them are necessarily great products. However, this one is! This oil is a nourishing blend of evening primrose oil, German Chamomile, Coconut oil, jojoba oil and sandalwood oil just to name a few. The oils in this blend ease irritation, comfort the skin and reduce redness. I use this prior to the soothing serum, all over the face (even on my eyes). It is great for fine lines and it soaks right into the skin. Then apply the Soothing Serum on top and redness will fade away. It is great after a peel to help ease redness and irritation to the skin. It will help stop the burning! $62.00/£44.00/15 ml

Instant Skin Soothing Serum

Instant Skin Soothing Facial Oil and Soothing Facial Oil

This serum soothes and hydrates the skin with a combination of prebiotics that maintain the skin’s natural barrier and cotton thistle extract to support skin renewal. Roman chamomile and arnica soothe skin and cool irritated skin, leaving the complexion feeling and looking healthy. The serum is packed with anti-inflammatory ingredients and anti-oxidants. I noticed that when I applied it after a peel, my skin immediately calmed down and the redness disappeared immediately! I love this serum so much! $62.00/£44.00/50 ml

Soothing Daily Repair Moisturizer

Soothing Daily Repair Moisturizer

A very nourishing and protective moisturizer that helps dry and stressed skin. It contains safflower ceramides, vital omega oils that are combined with cotton thistle extract and German Chamomile to support the regenerative process and maintain the skin’s natural radiance. Shea butter and rice germ oil help the skin to stay soft and supple. Anti-oxidants work at keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay. This moisturizer is great for sensitive skins prone to redness. I find this moisturizer to be rich, yet also light and it sinks right into the skin. $72.00/£51.00/50 ml

If you have red, irritated and sensitive skin this is a great line to consider. Aromatherapy Associates also has a number of other lines such as Refining, Anti-Aging, and Hydrating. Personally I am looking forward to trying their new Essential Enzyme Peel! It looks like a super product! They have a Bath & Body line, Men’s line and a Home & Ambience line too. I was able to try one of the Bath & Shower Gels, Inner Strength. It smells divine and was very soothing. It has frankincense oil in it, one of my favorite oils! 10% of all proceeds of this Bath & Shower Oil are donated to the charity, Defence Against Cancer Foundation, that is helping pioneer a new cancer vaccine treatment, of which one of the founders, Geraldine Howard, is currently a patient.

The Soothing Introductory Set is $54.00. Aromatherapy Associates products are available in the UK through hotels and spas, and www.spacenk.com and www.libertyco.uk and www.beautybay.com.
