Every year PANTONE comes out with a Color of the Year that drives fashion, makeup and interior design. For 2016 they came out with two colors, Rose Quartz (13-1520) and Serenity (15-3919). Rose Quartz is a very light cool pink and Serenity is a mid tone cool blue, bordering on periwinkle. The two colors together evoke a spring day, the night sky at dusk and numerous other colors together that mix well. These two are definitely complement each other well.
SEPHORA + PANTONE Universe comes out with a makeup collection that has the Color of the Year in cosmetic form. They build an entire collection around this color. This year they came out with two lipsticks, one in Rose Quartz and in in Serenity. Also, they came out with a 24 shade eye shadow palette and a 6 shade lip gloss set. I was able to try put these items and I can share my thoughts with you. I think you will enjoy these shades for spring. Especially the eye shadow palette, pink lipstick and lip gloss set. The blue lipstick can be worn too but it is a little out there.

The set comes in a sleek, sophisticated palette. I am very happy with these shadows. They have great pigmentation, little to no fallout and are very blendable. They shadows are fairly creamy for being matte shades and the shimmers are also pretty creamy too.

This is a set of playful, pastel lip gloss shades that are moisturizing and have a high sheen formula. It includes the two Color of the Year shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity. These lip glosses impart a luxurious shine with a cushiony feel. The beautiful watercolor shades offer high-shine color payoff in a single stroke. The advanced formula features sunflower seed wax and Vitamin E to provide deep hydration and conditioning for a luxurious feel on the lips. The soft, flocked applicator helps to provide the perfect amount of gloss. I am liking these lip gloss shades. I mixed Foxglove and Sunlit Allium together and came up with a beautiful mauve shade that complemented my eyes that day.

This is a rich and velvety, ultra hydrating lipstick that delivers a dramatic punch of color to the lips. It has a high coverage, pigment-loaded pop of color that catches the eye with the exclusive Color of the Year shade in Rose Quartz. This is not your normal sheer shade of lipstick. Breaking the monotony of normal pastels, it goes bold with a high-coverage pastel pink that is meant to layer and be mixed with other shades. A high concentration of ultra thin pigments incorporated into a rich blend of emollient oils and waxes offers a radically intense, satiny finish on the lips. This color looks good alone or mixed with other colors. Personally, alone I think it reminds me of the 1960’s. Very cute.

This is meant to be mixed with other colors. Alone it does not make me look well. Below I am just wearing it alone so you can see how it looks on. It looks better if it is mixed with another lipstick shade. It looks nice when it is mixed with the Rose Quartz shade. Especiallly when they are made to look ombre.

This is what PANTONE predicts will be the color palette fro the coming year. All color tones in interior design, fashion and makeup will be based upon these two colors, with other colors spinning off of these. What is nice is that these two colors do complement each other beautifully. When mixed together they look like the sky at dusk. I think that it is nice to go toward the pastel direction every once in a while. Mix things up, shake and stir. I feel lucky that I can wear these colors. The blue lipstick in Serenity is a little out there but when mixed with something else it is wearable. It is meant to be layered not worn alone.
