NERD Skincare For Acne

If you suffer from acne, whether you are a teenager, young adult or an adult; then you know how annoying it is. Acne is the scourge of beauty. It is not only annoying but is effects your self-esteem. That is why when I decided to become an Esthetician I wanted to specialize in treating acne because I wanted to help people with their self-esteem. I wanted to help make people feel better about themselves. Their are many different treatments for acne on the market. However, when I saw an advertisement for NERD Skincare on Facebook I was intrigued: their claim is that they get rid of acne lesions for good and that their acne skincare is better than anyone else's. That is a tall order. So I asked for some samples to try. 

NERD Skincare used probiotics to banish acne causing bacteria, leaving skin feeling less irritated than other acne skincare. This way you still get rid of blackheads, whiteheads and pustules but your skin is not left dried out, raw and red. There are three products in the NERD lineup: Clarifying Cleanser, Acne Treatment Lotion and Nourishing Cream.

NERD Clarifying Cleanser

This creamy cleanser is soap-free (but still lathers) yet unclogs pores where acne-causing bacteria live. Using the power of dairy-free Yogurt Probiotics and hydrating Glycerin. Yogurt Probiotics are anti-acne wonders that were grown without dairy to help gently decongest pores while smoothing and softening skin. Glycerin helps moisturize the skin. Olive oil is a natural hydrator that calms skin and also reinforces the natural moisture barrier of the skin; it also fights off pollutants and dryness. Soy Protein Surfactant (surfactant also means detergent or what helps to clean the skin) is a gentle cleansing agent that dissolves dirt and excess oil without disturbing the skin balance. Methyl Glucose is a plant derived humectant (something that brings moisture to the skin) that helps keep moisture in your skin where it needs to be. The cleanser leaves skin feeling soft and clean, not dry or tight. It is one of my favorite cleansers because of those reasons alone. It gets rid of excess oil without stripping the skin of the vital moisture barrier or its healthy bacteria.

I love this cleanser! I would use it even if I did not have any acne breakouts. It is a very good cleanser. The NERD Clarifying Cleanser is a must have in my regime now. I will likely continue to use this because it is such a great cleanser and it is not too expensive. It does a great job of cleansing skin, decongesting pores and getting rid of impurities. 

NERD Acne Treatment Lotion

The Acne Treatment Lotion is a non-drying lotion free from Benzoyl Peroxide (an effective but harsh and drying acne fighting agent). It is packed with nine powerful plant extract the help fight acne bacteria, speeds up the healing process, calms inflammation and also gives the good bacteria a chance to fight off acne. Prebiotic extracts help to boost beneficial flora on the face that fight off acne-causing bacteria. They help to calm redness and inflammation to heal the skin from acne that has already occurred. The Acne Treatment Lotion visibly reduces blemishes in 10 days. 

Just what are the great plant extracts that are in this lotion? There is Cucumber Extract, which soothes and calms the skin. Centella Asiatica Extract, a wound-healing agent that helps to reduce inflammation. Sulfur, one of the best acne fighting agents around. It is a mineral that targets acne bacteria and helps to control oil without adding any irritation to the skin. Green Tea Extract is a wonderful anti-oxidant that helps to protect skin cells from pollution and free radicals, thus preventing skin from aging to quickly. This lotion also contains Allantoin, which is very soothing to the skin. It calms and soothes redness and irritation. Chamomile Flower Extract contains azulene, which is also very soothing for the skin and helps to calm redness and irritation. Licorice Root Extract helps get rid of discoloration in the skin, meaning it will help treat old acne marks. Rosemary Extract is an antibacterial and helps to get rid of acne bacteria. It is also an anti-inflammatory, so it will get rid of redness and inflammation of acne lesions.

NERD Nourishing Cream

NERD Nourishing Cream is the last and final step in the NERD Skincare process. Its job is to fix skin that has been depleted by harsh treatments like Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid and Retinoids. This luxurious moisture cream, helps skin to heal and repair itself and its acne-fighting defenses. Not only does it do that, it also helps to speed up wound healing by restoring moisture to the skin and soothing inflammation. 

The cream contains 23 powerful botanical extracts that revive skin and protect it against skin-damaging pollutants and free-radicals. Rosemary Leaf Extract is an herbal extract that helps to speed up cell turnover so that skin heals faster and repair itself more effectively. Ceramides are natural building blocks of healthy skin that maintain the integrity of the natural moisture barrier and are essential to skin healing and its radiance. Squalane is a moisturizing plant-derived molecule that mimic your own natural oils; it replenishes and softens the skin without clogging pores. Macadamina Nut Oil is a therapeutic plant oil that helps to reduce itching and irritation caused by harsh acne treatments. Tocopheryl Acetate is Vitamin E, and helps skin to heal and reduces scar tissue and inflammation. Shea Butter is a natural moisturizer that is extremely moisturizing and soothing for the skin yet does not clog pores. 

What I like about this cream is how it sinks right in to the skin without leaving any residue behind. It is very moisturizing and does not cause any acne lesions. That is often difficult for a moisturizer, as they usually contain many ingredients that are comedogenic (pore clogging).

Fighting acne used to mean drying out the skin with agents such as BHA's (Salicylic Acid) and Benzoyl Peroxide. They work for many but not for all, which meant going to a dermatologist and getting a script for something expensive that might cause extreme side effects. With NERD Skincare, however it is much easier and gentler. I used it on my mild acne with good results. It definitely got rid of all of my pustules, inflammation and redness that I had. And I only tried two of the sample kits.

I have heard that people have used it on mild, intermediate and to some point severe acne with good results. I think that this might be a new era of acne fighting skincare. No harsh chemicals, or harsh ingredients, etc. I hope so. It is heartbreaking to see people with severe acne walking around and getting pitted scars on their faces, as those are so hard to remove. I am not sure if this really does work on severe acne or not. I would say try it and see. There is no reason not to do it. 

The entire system retails for $195.00. That is a better deal than purchasing each product separately at $200.00. They do send out samples kits of their products, ask for a kit and try them out. Seriously, do it. If you suffer from acne, you will thank me.
