One of the less discussed challenges of the lockdown following the COVID-19 outbreak has been that individuals all over are finding themselves in dire need of a haircut with spouses, partners, parents and children are suddenly being drafted as amateur barbers and stylists – with potentially catastrophic (stylistic) results.

To help remedy the situation and deliver some much-needed relief, New York City’s Up-Scale men’s grooming boutique Barba, in partnership with agency, Terri & Sandy has launched the Quarancuts Virtual Hair School.

Each day, Barba’s Owner and Master Stylist, Xavier Cruz, will guide student "stylists" through the techniques of men’s haircuts online using Zoom. Anyone interested in taking the “course” can Direct Message (DM) Barba on Instagram, with all Quarancuts sessions airing simultaneously on IGTV so that friends, family and the wider community can get in on the lesson.

Every ground-breaking initiative must have a first star and the first amateur stylist to attend Quarancuts was Grammy-winning singer, Tony-winning actor, and renowned style icon Billy Porter, who enlisted to cut his husband Adam Smith’s hair.

Of his first Quarancuts experience Billy Porter said, “My nerves faded away with Xavier’s guidance. Humbling and Fabulous!” His husband Adam added, “Xavier saved the day teaching my husband how to give me a desperately needed trim”

Xavier Cruz of Barba says, "Without a doubt, these are hard times, but not all is lost. Quarancuts puts us closer together. We created this program to not only make us feel great over our appearance, but to also have fun. We will certainly have some good laughs during our sessions."

Digital and social content for the Quarancuts Virtual Hair School will be broadcast across social media on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, as well as on Barba’s website.

See how it can go on very light for a hint of color? This is something that you don't want to have a ton of color with, just a light wash of color. Since it is a cream blush, and I was wearing a powder foundation, I put in on over my primer and under my foundation. If I were wearing a liquid or cream foundation I would wear this cream blush over the foundation. A little bit goes a long way with this product, start small and use more as needed.

Mother's Day is only a few weeks away and I wanted to make sure and have at least one fragrance suggestion that I know your mother would love. This one is near and dear to my heart as it is a variation on my favorite perfume, Gucci Bloom. It is a new scent to the line called Ambosia Di Fiori. This scent belongs to the florals section of scents, specifically classic florals. It contains key notes of jasmine bud, rangoon creeper and damask rose. 

The new Gucci Bloom Ambrosia Di Fiori fragrance invites those who wear it to celebrate their true selves and the emotions they feel. Matching this expression, the perfume is deepend in a refined eau de parfum intense. The vibrant bouquet features jasmine bud, tuberose, Rangoon creeper, damascene rose and velvety orris. An imaginary garden redolent of flowers and plants in diverse types and colors, the original Gucci Bloom scent is the foundation of Gucci Bloom Ambrosia Di Fiori.  In the intensified take on this scent, the vibrant bouquet features new ingredients, including the rare and tenacious velvety orris, the root of Iris. The other new note, damask rose is distilled from the most fragrant breed of rose and harvested in the early morning to give the powerful rendition of the flower. Instead of a classical pyramid construction of top, heart and base notes, Gucci Bloom opens fully at once with noble and rare flowers. 

The fragrance is intensified by the warmth of your own body. Apply in the creases of your knees and elbows for a longer-lasting, stronger scent. After applying, avoid rubbing or dabbing skin. This breaks down the fragrance, causing it to wear off more quickly. If you prefer placing fragrance on your wrists, be sure to reapply after frequent hand-washing, as this tends to rinse off the scent. Replace fragrance after 12 months. Expired perfumes more than a year old lose the integrity of the original scent.

To me this fragrance reminds me of nights spent in Greece with my ex-husband and kids, smelling the night jasmine blooming, with its intoxicating scent blowing across the breeze, mingled with the smell of roses. Greece is famous for its jasmine blossoms that hang from trees everywhere. I love going to Greece and being with my ex's family, eating dinner outside and smelling the jasmine blossoms. Seeing the flowers, the roses and being able to smell such beautiful fragrant blossoms in nature. It is simply intoxicating. And to boot, the fragrance lasts all day long. I sprayed it this morning and can still smell it on my wrists at night. 

*I’m editing this to add that I finally went to take a shower the next day and could still smell it on my wrist even though I had washed my hands several times. It’s THAT intense! It lasted 24 hours.

Everybody wants bright, beautiful skin. Skin that looks as good as it did when you were in your 20's. That is when your skin looked its best. Neutrogena Bright Boost helps to deliver skin that looks that good again. There are a few products in this routine that will brighten your skin and give it a new illuminating look. I have tried two of them and even though I am almost 50, they do work for skin my age. 

Neutrogena Bright Boost Gel-Cream is a light gel-cream moisturizer for use on those nights when you have stayed out too late and need some extra oomph on the skin to make it look glowing again. It contains the following: neoglucosamine, AHAS, PHA and Mandelic Acid. It visibly tones, gives new texture to the skin and reduces fine lines. Also, it boosts surface cells turnover by 10x. This gel-cream visibly reduces dullness and dark spots for smooth skin and improves the look of skin tone and texture in one week. 

To use, apply Bright Boost Gel-Cream over Illuminating Serum twice daily to cleansed face and neck. Use in the morning for all-day brightness and in the evening for continued hydration. Smooth evenly in gentle massaging strokes until fully absorbed. If wearing during the day, be sure to use the Bright Boost SPF30 or higher.

The Neutrogena Bright Boost Illuminating Serum with Turmeric is used underneath all other brightening products and is their best brightening serum. It has been formulated with turmeric extract and Neoglucosamine to visibly improve tone, texture and to clarify the skin. It exfoliates and reduces the appearance of dark spots & hyperpigmentation. Every morning and evening apply 4-5 drops onto the palm of hand and then use fingertips to gently massage onto face. Enjoy immediately radiant skin. In the morning use the Neutrogena Bright Boost with SPF30 instead of the Bright Boost Gel-Cream. 

I personally found both of these products to be very good at immediately brightening the skin and at brightening the skin in the long run too. The skin gets a double boost of brightening with the ingredients in these products. Skin turnover doubles up to 10x the regular amount because of the neoglucosamine, and the AHAs, PHA, Mandelic Acid. After using my skin had a nice glow to it that looked beautiful, made my skin look a lot younger.

Review: Maybelline Dream Radiant Liquid Foundation #Maybelline #DreamRadiantLiquid #Foundation

I am a huge foundation fanatic, mainly because my entire life has been devoted to finding the perfect foundation shade. Well ever since I worked for Prescriptives, I was lucky enough to find a good foundation shade. Then they kind of disappeared and I had to start all over. Then FENTY BEAUTY came out with about 50 foundation shades and I didn't have to look anymore. Companies started to come out with the lightest shades available from marshmallow to alabaster to fairest porcelain. I usually wear the lightest neutral shade from a line. Mass market lines are not so easy though. They don't classify their systems the same. I can usually wear the lightest two shades from Maybelline. So recently I tried the lightest shades from Maybelline's newest foundation. 

It is called Dream Radiant Liquid FoundationGet ready to face the day with radiance! This foundation comes in 20 shades, I tried the second to lightest shade, Fair Porcelain. It worked very well for my skin. Alabaster, the lightest shade, would have worked well too. Dream Radiant Liquid Foundation visibly improves the look of skin, giving you a natural-looking glow you will never want to take off. This lightweight foundation, formulated with hyaluronic acid and collagen, hydrates and smoothes skin while delivering a medium coverage foundation finish for the look of plump skin. This foundation moisturizes skin and gives a natural, radiant look. Delivering up to 12 hours of hydration, this new formula comes in 20 different shades and provides smooth and even-looking skin. It's like the perfect foundation for dry skin. To use, apply this liquid foundation to the skin and blend with fingertips, a sponge or makeup brush.

You will notice with this foundation shade chart that the majority of the shade choices are in the medium family, not in the darker family. I would highly recommend this foundation for those with dry, medium color skin tones. There are only three shades with light skin tones and the rest are medium in nature. There are only three shades in the darker tones too. The light-to-medium shades are in the second row and the rest are medium shades. This is not recommended for oily skin, normal skin, or combination skin. Only drier skins. 
It can be worn in the summer too if you have dry skin. It doesn't have any significant longer wear time though. 

The foundation itself goes on smoothly and has a light to medium coverage. It smooths on evenly and blends well, looking quite natural. I like how nicely it looks once it has been set with powder. This foundation is a nice change of pace from the full coverage foundations that have been so popular of recent years.
