Aethera Beauty CBD Skincare

Recently I wrote a review for a book called The CBD Skincare Solution: The Power of Cannabidiol for Healthy Skin by Manisha Singal, M.D. and the wonderful physician who wrote the book also started a skincare line based on CBD as the primary ingredient. I interviewed her about the line and asked her a couple of questions regarding her products as well as tried two of them out and will be reviewing them below. Read on for my review.

I asked Dr. Singal what makes her line different from other CBD skincare lines and this was her response: "At Aethera Beauty, because we are a joint venture with a lab, we have an extensive team of experts and our own team of chemists that are extremely rigorous with product development. We also only use the highest quality CBD and other active botanicals. It’s important as a medical doctor to know exactly what goes into each bottle, and every product has gone through extensive testing and iterations before it becomes available for consumer launch. We are non-GMO, phthalate- paraben-, sulfate-free, and vegan.

When the company was being formed, the Caribbean was being hit continually by one devastating hurricane after another. As a frequent traveler to the islands whenever I needed a healthy dose of “self-care,” I wanted to do something to give back to the places that I had grown to love. Aethera Beauty donates a portion of our proceeds to organizations that provide hurricane relief. As our business grows, we hope to be able to focus even more on this philanthropic arm and create fair trade agreements with direct suppliers in the region."

Aethera Beauty Sunrise Botanical Reboot Serum With CBD

1 fl.oz./30mL $60.00

Aethera Sunrise Botanical Reboot Serum With CBD is rich in antioxidants, botanicals and infused with skin soothing CBD. It absorbs quickly and dries to a powder-like finish. It contains antioxidants such as Hibiscus, Acerola Cherry, Tamarind and Passionflower that help to gently exfoliate and brighten the skin. Hyaluronic Acid is humectant that holds 1,000 times its own weight in water and helps to plump the skin. Glycerin is another humectant that is helps to pull water into the skin. This serum also contains Vitamin A, which is an exfoliant. Vitamin B, to help nourish the skin. Vitamin C to brighten and Vitamin E to nourish. CBD is infused to help with inflammation and to soothe the skin. It is recommended that this serum be each morning and evening after cleansing and before the Everyday Botanical Brightening Concentrate or moisturizer. Apply 2-3 drops to fingertips and gently press into fingertips and décolletage.

This serum is lightweight and very nice. I like how quickly it absorbs. It sinks into skin so quickly and provides a nice, lightweight plumping action to the skin. The botanical extracts help to provide a lightweight exfoliation that is not too harsh. However, the best thing about this product is the CBD included. It contains 200 mg of CBD per 1 fl.oz. It immediately soothes the skin and provides relief for any and all sensitivity and irritation that you might have. I would highly recommend this for any skin type, especially sensitive, as the formulator of this product originally made this for herself. And she suffers from a horrific skin sensitivity. It is even good for acneic skins, as it is so lightweight.

1 fl. oz. $88.00

Aethera Everyday Botanical Brightening Concentrate With CBD is an antioxidant, oil-based, creamy formula that provides dense moisture and dries down to a subtle glow. It is infused with skin-soothing CBD. This product also contains botanicals actives including Papaya, Turmeric, Guava, Chamomile, Carrot Seed Oil, and Sweet Potato. Papaya, Acerola and Vitamin C exfoliate the skin. Turmeric, Guava and Sweet Potato help brighten the skin. Chamomile and Turmeric also help to soothe and provide anti-inflammatory benefits to the skin. For best results, use 1-2 times per day after cleanser and serum. Apply 1-2 drops to fingertips and gently press into face. Avoid the delicate eye area. Make sure to follow with SPF for daytime use. This product contains 500 mg of CBD per 1 fl.oz.

I found the brightening benefits of this product to be significant. Lately, with menopause, I have experienced a great amount of photo damage and melasma (all of my sun damage coming out from childhood sun burns). This did help to lighten up a good portion of what I experienced. I will show you below in photos.

Here are two photos of my worst areas, my forehead and left cheek. The reason the left cheek is worse is because of driving. That is a fact.

left cheek before Aethera Brightening Concentrate

forehead before Aethera Brightening Concentrate

Here is my face after 6 weeks of use:
cheek after using Aethera Brightening Concentrate

forehead after using Aethera Brightening Concentrate

after using Aethera Brightening Concentrate

You will notice that I experienced a significant brightening on my cheek and some on my forehead. It also brightened up the post-inflammatory acne mark on my chin. I am 49 years old and this is the first year that I have noticed any significant aging on my skin. As you can see, I don't have any fine lines per se, just hyperpigmentation/melasma. Overall, I am very happy with the product. I think it provides soothing and brightening properties that most other products don't provide.
CBD skincare is the future of skincare and quite beneficial for those with sensitive skin.

I asked Dr. Singal about the future of her company and this is what she had to say regarding development of products: "Although we focus on development of CBD skincare, we decided to include non-CBD products to keep some items at an accessible price point. We also wanted to be certain to have products in our lineup that customers who prefer to not use CBD could use. As a result, you will see us expanding both our CBD and non-CBD skin care lines. For example, we will soon have two masks coming - a flash mask to address dullness and congestion and another with CBD to nourish and soothe skin. We have an extensive R&D team of chemists that are constantly experimenting with new formulations to come with innovative solutions to skin problems."

The line is an innovative and interesting line and I think you will find it works out well for you. Aethera Beauty is available from www.aetherabeauty.com. Follow Aethera on Instagram: Aethera Beauty.

Book Review: The CBD Skincare Solution: The Power of Cannabidiol for Healthy Skin #CBDSkincareSolution #CBD #ManishaSingal

The CBD Skincare Solution: The Power of Cannabidiol for Healthy Skin

by Manisha Singal, M.D.

$14.99

If you have ever read my blog before you know there is something I am very interested in learning about, and that is CBD (cannabidiol). I was lucky enough to be able to read and review this fabulous & fascinating book written and researched by an internal medicine physician. It is called The CBD Skincare Solution: The Power of Cannabidol for Healthy Skin by Dr. Manisha Singal, M.D. In this book Dr. Singal describes how a horrific allergic reaction led her down a winding path that ultimately would lead her to write this book. Eventually she also founded her own beauty brand, Aethera Beauty, based upon the principles applied in the book. I also asked her some questions about her book and her skincare line (which I will review separately).

The reason I am so interested in CBD is because I suffer from eczema. Eczema is type of dermatitis, or inflammation of the skin, and is triggered by an autoimmune reaction to allergens. The results can be quite dramatic, painful and stressful. Mine is only located on my neck. It is located only on my neck and was just diagnosed in my mid-forties. However, my oldest daughter also suffers from it (atopic dermatitis specifically) and has skin so sensitive that she can use only use Cetaphil and CeraVe products. When I told her about my success with CBD, she immediately became interested and was hopeful that it could help her too.

Dr. Singal wrote her book because she developed a very bad allergic reaction to hair color. In 2017, she had gone to her colorist before a wedding to get some pesky gray's colored. The stylist used the same formula she had used on several occasions, but this time something was different, and a terrible rash broke out her neck and scalp that quickly spread to her entire body. Essentially, she leveraged her entire network of fellow doctors to find an answer but eventually was diagnosed with “multiple chemical hyper-sensitivity.” She reluctantly proceeded to take a cocktail of prescribed drugs and various topical steroids. Also, she mentions in her book that in her need and quest for non-toxic solutions, she started studying the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD. Around this same time, her husband started to use and receive benefits from ingested CBD for his symptoms from an inflammatory bowel disease. This was her “aha” moment to experiment with topical CBD in hopes for her own relief from the unremitting skin reaction.

It took over about one year to get a diagnosis, from beginning to end. She had to wait for her inflamed skin to heal. In the meantime, she cleaned out her entire arsenal of skincare, hair care and body care products with chemicals in them. One of her mantras is that “the cure can often be worse than the disease” and she rarely takes any prescription medications due to potential toxic side effects. She writes that "this ordeal necessitated me to find my own non-toxic solution to deal with my skin irritation and scaring as well as provide relief from the constant itching."

The CBD Skincare Solution is the one-stop book you need for all of your CBD skincare needs. It has everything you have ever wanted to know about the history of CBD, marijuana and how it is used, applied and works. Not only that, but Dr, Singal goes into great depth and detail into how to use CBD for the body and the skin. This book is essentially a textbook for CBD skincare. She goes into great detail about the immune system, skin anatomy and how CBD affects the body. She goes into great depth about how to shop for CBD, how CBD can affect your overall health and well-being, as well as the best way to take CBD. In the back of the book there is a compendium of resources for readers and a fully researched bibliography from scientific resources. Since she is a physician, Dr. Singal doesn't cut any corners on her research and she makes sure to include her research for the reader as she would have in a medical journal.

My favorite sections of the book were about how CBD affects the brain and the entourage effect. You see, we have certain endocannobinoids in our own body that respond to CBD, which is how cannabidiol affects the brain (this includes THC). CBD on its own is beneficial but when grouped together is called the entourage effect, and you can read more about that in her book. Essentially, all of the different types of CBD amplify each other's beneficial effects.

The future of CBD isn't really discussed but, I asked Dr. Singal about the future of CBD and here is her reply:

"I support full legalization of cannabis and more research into the various other cannabinoids such as CBN, CBG, and THCV and their potential roles to mitigate diseases. We’ve barely scratched the surface when it comes to understanding the science behind cannabinoids many observed benefits. For example, a recent study in Canada by Dr. Kovalchuk showed high-CBD extracts in the early stages of Covid-19 infection may help prevent moderate infections from turning into severe infections, by suppression of the receptors responsible for the coronavirus to enter the host cells, especially on the airways, lungs, and intestines."

I think if you are at all interested in CBD, skincare, its affects on the body then you would thoroughly enjoy this book. As I mentioned previously, it is a essentially a textbook for cannabidiol, its use in the body and on the skin. Dr. Singal covers every and all topics related to CBD. She does this without boring the reader at all, making it compelling reading. I know that is a book I will reach for many times over to research CBD anytime I need any information. The CBD Skincare Solution: The Power of Cannabidiol for Healthy Skin is available for $14.99 through www.aetherabeauty.com and www.amazon.com

Book Review: Deep Flavors: A Celebration of Recipes for Foodies in a Kosher Style #DeepFlavors #Cookbook #KosherCooking

Deep Flavors: A Celebration of Recipes for Foodies in A Kosher Style by Kenneth M. Horwitz

$39.95

Recently I had the pleasure of trying out an interesting and award winning (2020 International Book Awards, Bronze Medal Winner- Non-Fiction-Cooking/Food) cookbook entitled, Deep Flavors: A Celebration of Recipes for Foodies in a Kosher Style. It is a kosher cookbook and although I am not Jewish, I happen to love the traditional cuisine. What is so fascinating about this cookbook is the author's philosophy about cooking. He believes that attention to detail is the most important thing about cooking and "if something is worth doing it is worth doing right". I couldn't agree more.

Immediately upon opening the book, I learned something new. I learned the correct way to hard-boil an egg. All of this time I had been cooking eggs the wrong way! Mr. Horwitz advises that when you hard-boil an egg you should cook it on a low simmer, never just put it in the pan with water and place it on the stove to boil. He also advises carefully piercing the large end of the shell with a thumbtack to allow excess air to escape. He said he learned this trick from watching chef Jacques Pepin. By doing you avert shell breakage and avoid the concave area on one side of the shell. Mr. Horwitz then goes on to describe that you lower the eggs into cool, salted water. Then, start to heat the pot. As soon as it reaches a simmer, turn down the heat to a bare minimum. Then set the timer for 10 minutes. Do not cook the eggs for longer than 12 minutes. When the timer is done, drain the eggs and shake the pots to break the shells. Then cover the eggs with cold water and ice. Let them sit 30 minutes before peeling. By doing this you avoid the green sulfurous ring around the yolk. Peel them under cool, running water. Some eggs will still be easy to peel and some might be difficult. He explains that he has not figured out why this is the case. To me, this tip alone is just about worth the price of the book. Everyone cooks hard-boiled eggs and they never come out right.

The book is divided up into ingredients (since that is the most important part of Kosher cooking) and then recipes. This cookbook has so many wonderful Kosher recipes as well as comfort food and traditional Jewish delicacies. I get hungry just thinking about eating them!

I am going to discuss a very easy recipe, since I do not cook much anymore (due to my knees and back). There is a section on making the perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich, which happens to be just about my favorite comfort food. First, you must have the right kind of bread. A good rye, pumpernickel, whole wheat, sourdough or white bread will work. Not a pre packaged bread, that won't do. The cheese needs to be a good kind that will melt well, such as an American, mild cheddar, brie, Monterey Jack, colby, longhorn, gruyère or raclette. Personally I happen to like cheddar, brie or gruyère in my Grilled Cheese. Mr. Horwitz adds that you can spread a bit of dijon mustard on the inside of the sandwich if you'd like. Or, if you are using brie, a bit of pesto. Yummy!

For another variation you might want to try cream cheese. Add lightly sautéed, minced jalapeños (with or without seeds depending on how spicy you want your sandwich) for a zesty kick. In this case you would use American, colby, Monterey Jack, longhorn or mild cheddar cheese along with the cream cheese. This also makes a wonderful Quesadilla!

To make the perfect grilled cheese, preheat the oven to 350°F. Liberally butter the outside of two pieces of bread. Then layer in as much cheese as you would like inside, but do not overlap the bread outside. In a hot cast-iron or non-stick pan cook with buttered side out, on high heat on 1 buttered side of sandwich. Press lightly. Flip the sandwich, being careful not to let the cheese melt out onto the pan. Immediately put the pan into the pre-heated oven and cook for 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is thoroughly melted. Mr. Horwitz notes that it makes the perfect Grilled Cheese sandwich, melting the cheese without burning the bread.

In this case I can attest to this fact. I tried it with a mild cheddar and whole wheat bread. My sandwich came out thoroughly toasty, crisp and the cheese was melted all the way through. This was by far the best Grilled Cheese Sandwich I had ever tasted. I ate it with Tomato Soup, which reminded me of eating at my grandmother's house when I was little, which happens to be my favorite lunch.

Another recipe I happen to like is the Cheese Noodle Kugel (Jewish Mac & Cheese). It's kind of like a pudding with noodles. Cheese Kreplach are another favorite of mine (Vareniki). They are kind of akin to cheese blintzes. And extremely delicious! In case you haven't noticed, I love cheese and don't eat meat. However, there are plenty of meat (beef and chicken) recipes in this cookbook that will be sure to satisfy your taste for Jewish cuisine.

Deep Flavors has a wealth of information and is definitely worth purchasing. As I mentioned it is an award winning cookbook. It doesn't matter if you are Jewish or not, this book is a great cookbook and will teach you about cooking in general. As I discussed, I am amazed at the amount of information I learned by just reading the first few pages. Deep Flavors is available through www.deepflavorscookbook.com and www.amazon.com

Review: Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick Coffee Edition #Maybelline #SuperStay #MatteInkCoffeeEdition

 (product photo courtesy of www.maybelline.com)

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick Coffee Edition $7.99

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink is one of my favorite Maybelline products. The reason is because it performs like a high end, very expensive lip product for a fraction of the cost. And it comes in an array of shades. Recently Maybelline came out with a new collection for Autumn, called the Coffee Edition, with six gorgeous shades of SuperStay Matte Ink in beautiful shades of varying browns that would look amazing on any skin tone.

The shades are called: Mocha Inventor, Caramel Collector, Hazelnut Hypnotizer, Chai Genius, Cocoa Connoisseur and Espresso Enthusiast. I tried three of them: Mocha Inventor, Hazelnut Hypnotizer and Chai Genius. I was very happy with all three of them. Intense rich coffee colors that last up to 16 hours, with a flawless matte finish. And no transfer! Get saturated liquid matte lip color with a unique arrow applicator for precise application. The long-lasting formula gives an amazing matte finish with a delectable coffee scent. For easy removal, try Maybelline's SuperStay Eraser lipstick remover.

Here are swatches of the shades I tried:

above, left to right: Hazel Hypnotizer, Chai Genius and Mocha Inventor

And here are photos a couple of the colors on my lips:

And here is a look I did with Chai Genius:

I really like the SuperStay Matte Ink formula, it reminds me of the more high end liquid lipstick formulas, but at a much more affordable price point and without sacrificing any of the quality. These last all day long without coming off, as long as you don't eat anything oily. If you plan on eating oily, you will have to reapply. Or if you plan on kissing anyone! But I will tell you that they last through a regular kissing session, not a major make-out session. I found that they come off easily with a regular oil based cleanser, no problems there. The Coffee Edition shades are perfect for fall and have some shades that will go with any skin tone (especially darker ones).

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Coffee Edition retail for $7.99 and are available from mass market retailers such as Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid, Target, Walmart and also at ULTALike Maybelline on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/maybelline; Follow Maybelline on Twitter: @Maybelline; Follow Maybelline on Pinterest:http://www.pinterest.com/Maybelline/; Follow Maybelline on Instagram:http://instagram.com/maybelline# and Follow Maybelline on Tumblr:http://maybelline.tumblr.com/.

Clip in Hair Extensions VS Tape in Hair Extensions VS Hot Capsule Hair Extensions #HairExtensions #SponsoredPost

Clip in Hair Extensions VS Tape in Hair Extensions VS Hot Capsule Hair Extensions

A modern woman knows that coming to work with a short haircut and conquering men's hearts with lush curls on the same evening is an affordable transformation. Now hair extensions are very popular. Each girl can fulfill her dream and get the perfect hairstyle for herself. There are many methods of hair lengthening, from clip in hair extensions to hot capsule hair extensions. Each of these methods has its strengths and weaknesses. So let's discuss them in detail:

Clip in Hair Extensions

Clip in remy hair extensions  have become incredibly popular. The main reason is that this method successfully fulfills its main function - you get long voluminous hair that will become a real decoration for any girl. After all, not everyone is the happy owner of such a gift from nature. Besides, under the influence of various circumstances, their own hair can grow very slowly, fall out, and lose its appearance. The use of cosmetic products has a correct, but too slow effect, but we want it today and right now.

Hair extensions allow you to solve several problems in one fell swoop:

  • contrast increase in length;
  •  significant increase in volume;
  •  the ability to hide physical disabilities - bald patches, bald patches, etc.;
  •  creating a new great image.

The clip in hair extensions procedure makes it possible to implement all these possibilities much safer than all methods existing today. The advantages of hair extension with this method are that the process does not require a special glue or keratin for the hair. There is no negative hot effect on the hair structure, and there is no need to use any chemicals to consolidate the effect.

The new method avoids most of these problems, thanks to the clip in hair extensions technology. As a result, such a connection becomes very durable and natural, even when creating a hairstyle.

This method is based on hair strands with clips that are fixed to your hair. This extension technique is not very easy to use, but once you attach such hair with clips, you will see how easy it is to change your appearance in this way. Clips are a great temporary solution for special occasions. There is also a disadvantage to such an extension. The clips must be removed before bed to prevent damage to your hair.

Tape Hair Extensions

The tape method of increasing the number of hairs on the head is considered a competitor to the capsule technology. This method leaves no room for the stylist's fantasies to come true.

But the curls will get an improved look in less than an hour. The procedure is considered outdated, but the price for such a service will not empty the wallet. If a woman's hair is naturally thin and thin, the tape method is better than the capsule method.

But in leaving, such hair is capricious:

·        Often you cannot comb the curls.

·        After shampooing, the strands are dried only in a natural way; the hairdryer can be removed from the bathroom.

Hot Capsule Hair Extensions

The hot capsule method of building up is a widespread and popular phenomenon. It will not work to confuse it with another technology; if you raise the strands, you can see such a picture

When done correctly, everything looks neat. But the pros and cons of capsule hair extensions are in the same amount. Lovely ladies will like:

1.     Extend hair extension up to 90 cm. The duration of the procedure is from 2 to 4 hours. During this time, the master, using a special device, heats the capsules on the donor strands and attaches them to the client's thin strands. The more professionally the work is done, the more natural the new hair will turn out. The capsules are almost invisible, and the hairstyles are almost unlimited.

2.     A strong attachment will not be damaged by hot drying with a hairdryer; you can comb hair extended by this method without fear. There are no restrictions on shampooing either, and it will not come soon for correction - 3.5 months is the maximum period.

On the second side of the scale, the disadvantages of the procedure are comfortably located:

  • Damage to the hair structure after contact with the molten capsule
  • The price of the procedure makes it unaffordable for a wide range of women.

·        Beauty, in this case, will require sacrifices, both physical and material, in equal measure.

Bottom Line

We have discussed the three most popular hair extension methods: clip in hair extensions, tape in hair extensions, and hot capsule hair extensions. You can see that clip in hair extension is a better choice because it doesn't have any side effects.

I love this lip gloss, it is light and goes on nicely. Yet it does make lips appear fuller and more plump. This gloss also hydrates lips very well, while wearing a long time too. This is definitely one of Maybelline's best glosses to have ever come out and I hope they expand the shade range soon.

Review: Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara #Maybelline #LashSensationalMascara #Mascara

(product photo courtesy of www.maybelline.com)

 Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara $9.99

This mascara is not new for Maybelline, but they have a new color out, called Midnight black. In fact, this mascara has been out for a few years and is a fan favorite. It is in fact, one of my favorite mascaras. Definitely my favorite Maybelline mascara.

Lash Sensational Mascara provides layers of lashes for a sensational full fan effect, thanks to its exclusive fanning brush with ten layers of bristles. This cult-favorite mascara delivers supple, separated lashes that never feel weighed down. Now introducing the NEW Midnight Black shade. Infused with rose hip oil to condition the lashes for an even softer feel and mineral pigments to provide great color. Lashes are so supple, separated and fully fanned. This mascara provides thick lashes that never feel weighed down. Maybelline’s exclusive fanning mascara brush with ten layers of bristles reveals layers of lashes, adding the look of length and volume without clumping. The fresh liquid formula captures lashes from root to tip for fanned-out volume. Now available in a new washable shade: Midnight Black. Ophthalmologist tested and suitable for contact lens wearers. It also comes in shades Blackest Black, Very Black and Brown Black.

To use: Use inner curve of brush to reach the roots of lashes. Sweep from the roots to tip of lashes. Do not let mascara dry in between coats. Mascara easily removes with any eye makeup remover.

It gives very long lush lashes that are clump free and are gorgeous. Theses are some of the longest lashes I have had with a mass market mascara. Eyelashes grow in more than one layer and this mascara helps to show those layers. It reveals layer upon layer of lashes. This mascara is also washable, meaning it washes off easily with any eye makeup remover. It has a curved brush, so start with the inner curve and fan outward to get the best results. I happen to have the shortest, stubbiest lashes in the world. They are invisible and mascara is not my friend. I don't have luck with many of them and find that I normally have to pay top dollar to get a really good mascara but with this one I liked it remarkably well.

Here are two photos, one with my lashes before and one after wearing the mascara:
