Aging is the least fun part of life. Especially when it shows up in our skin. We can handle it in our bodies, the pain, etc. but looking older seems to not be acceptable. Thank goodness for skincare that actually works though. And there are ingredients that do work. Peptides are one of the ingredients that work. 

Peptides are amino acid chains that when applied to the skin work well to actually help repair the collagen in the skin. Peptide chains have molecules small enough to penetrate to the dermis (the second layer of the skin, where collagen is produced). When peptides are used there is a decrease in fine lines, wrinkles, skin is more plump, has more elasticity, more suppleness and looks younger overall. They are very useful in skincare as peptides help to treat the signs of aging that appear in someone's 30's-50's.

The Inkey List Hepta Peptide is a patented peptide sequence, which helps to promote skin renewal and targets visible signs of aging. The serum-cream creates an instant blurring effect with leading-edge cosmetic soft-focus technology. This, combined with a seven-sequence peptide, give skin a smoother appearance, as well as providing a mattifying makeup base. Long-term, its patented peptide sequence helps reduce the look of crepey skin, fine lines and wrinkles. It contains 5% gransome heptapeptide-7* which helps to visibly reduce crepey skin (*Gransome heptapeptide-7 is a trademark of Grant industries, Inc.). Squalane is also included and helps to hydrate and protect skin. When looking at the ingredient list it is clear that these are not the primary ingredients of the formula though, although they are not that far down on the list. Remember that ingredients are listed in order of percentage down to 1%. Listed second and what prevents moisture loss is a polysilicone-11, a form of silicone. Not that it is a bad silicone mind you. There are good ones and bad ones. Hydrogenated polydecene is next and creates a gloss to the formula, would likely help with the blurring effect of it. The next ingredient on the list is hydrogenated polyisobutene, which is an emollient and helps to protect the natural moisture barrier of the skin. A great ingredient that is helpful in every way. Farther down we have squalane. It is normally found in the skin and this ingredient is likely harvested from olives. Glycerin is included, which is a good thing as it helps to provide slip and is a humectant that attracts water to the skin. Heptapeptide-7 helps provide a nice film on the skin to provide a good makeup base. A study done on 32-50 year old women showed stimulated keratinocyte proliferation and induced collagen synthesis. This reduced wrinkles on the forehead and improved the texture of the skin. Overall the formula is solid, with basic ingredients such as emollients, solvents and the two main ingredients that make the formula work. The Inkey List doesn't mess around with their formulas, adding only the ingredients needed and charging what is necessary. 

To use Hepta-Peptide, apply to skin after preferred serums in the AM and PM. Apply a pea sized amount to face and neck avoiding eye area. It is also suitable for decolletage and hands. In the AM use as a primer for makeup. I would apply this after sunscreen. 

I have found that Hepta-Peptide, when used a makeup base, really helps to act as a nice primer for foundations. It smooths and hydrates the skin, as it is very emollient and has that nice blurring effect. So if you have some fine lines (I have a few on my forehead thanks to the damn pandemic), then it will smooth them out and act to make your makeup go on much nicer. In the long run this product acts to actually reverse the signs of aging, because of the collagen synthesis effect and the proliferation of keratinocytes (a fancy term for skin cell turnover). It may take up to 6 weeks to see results from this product, so don't expect anything immediately except the blurring effects. Make sure to apply regularly with other products. It works well with Retinol and Collagen Booster for a  plumped, wrinkle reduced look. Of course, you can use it with other lines but it works best with The Inkey List products.
