My skin has been on a journey lately. Turning 50 made me realize that if I couldn't afford Botox I had to turn a few things around and make some decisions. So I decided to go back on Retin-A and only use it every other night, this way it would give me results without killing my skin. And I found a new product that has been giving me a glow in this humidity and heat. It is a scrub that is actually made for the body but is gentle enough for the face.

Enter the Pacifica Beauty Cocoa Cinnamon Dual Exfoliant. I discovered this one day when I placed an order from Pacifica and wanted some of their sale items. I found this and quickly looked at the ingredients list. It looked innocuous enough. So I decided to try it out on my face, even after have used Retin-A. Yes, I have some sensitivity and peeling skin going on right now but my skin is going nuts with this humidity and heat since my air conditioning broke.

The scrub is very gentle. More gentle than any other scrub I have ever used for the face. It was originally made for keratosis pilaris and therefore is great for dry skin, like mine tends to be. My skin happens to be on the normal to dry side right now. This scrub contains the following ingredients in it: cocoa, cinnamon, sunflower seed oil, cocoa seed butter, and glycerin. It happens to be a scrub that is perfectly acceptable to be used on the face, as long as you don't have sensitive skin, some of the ingredients may not be friendly to sensitive skins. Cocoa and cinnamon are both antioxidants that work extremely well to help kill free radicals (fighting the signs of aging) and exfoliate at the same time. Cinnamon is also known for its antiseptic effects, so it helps with acne. Sunflower seed oil, cocoa seed butter and glycerin are extremely hydrating to the skin, helping to give dry skin new life.

I like this scrub so much because it is so gentle and found that I can use it in conjunction with my Retin-A without feeling like I am going to scrub off my facial skin. It is a creamy paste without much of a "scrubby" feel. But it does exfoliate well. Well enough that I can use it daily and still not feel as it I am exfoliating too much.

Here are pictures of my skin taken today. This is after two weeks of using the Retin-A and this scrub:

As you can see, my skin is more even toned and has less acne. That is because the Retin-A compound also has tranexamic acid and niacinamide in it. Plus I stay out of the sun completely. I still have some photo damage that will never go away, but my skin looks better than it ever has. The dewiness in my skin is from the heat and my summer SPF40.

Pacifica Beauty Cocoa Cinnamon Dual Exfoliant retails for $14.00 and can be purchased online at www.pacificabeauty.com and at Target.
