Look With Illamasqua's Theater of the Namless

One of my favorite brands of makeup is Illamasqua, based in the UK. When I discovered them a few months ago I knew immediately that this brand was something special. The brand has a superior quality that one rarely finds these days. They are somewhat more expensive, but it is definitely worth every penny. In the US they are available only at some Sephora stores their website. Or you can order directly their website, Illamasqua. Some of their products are not available in the US because of ingredient restrictions. :(

The collections that they come out with each season are so artistic, I have not seen anything like this since the old Christian Dior artist Tien in the late '80's! Last spring/summer was Toxic Nature, a bright look at nature gone awry in our modern time. This season the collection is called Theater of the Nameless, based on clubs in Berlin in the 1920's. It is very "erotic" in nature and when you look at it, your eyes are immediately drawn to how the makeup is used. Illamasqua brings you in to the story with makeup. I urge you to go their website and look around at the various collections they put out but especially this one and last season's.

My look for the eyes is reminiscent of a sunset. I used Depravity Cream Pigment (magenta) on the lid, Androgen Cream Pigment (coral) above the lid in the crease. Then Bronx (shimmery copper) in the crease and Tango (dark shimmery bronze) just below to define the crease and again in the outer lid. For the lower lid I used Preen (dark periwinkle) and blended just a little onto the upper outer lid. I used Make Up For Ever's Waterproof liquid liner in #8 on the upper lid, winging it out just a little. For mascara, MAC's Opulash Optimum in Black.

I wanted a flushed cheeks look so I used Morale (shimmery dark rose) blush. I like lips that are not too dark in this case, so Illamasqua's Climax (pink coral) was a good choice here. The only thing that I don't like about their lipsticks is how drying they are on the lips. The pigments are great and they have great lasting power but boy, they sure do dry out the lips! I think they need to change the formula on this.

I have some more Illamasqua products I want to show you tomorrow, so look forward to another blog post. I also have some Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics pigments to show you for another day as well as Urban Decay holiday items! Busy times are ahead.
