CORAL: THE COLOR FOR SPRING

I am a very happy camper this year. One of my favorite colors is THE color for spring. Coral. Seen everywhere, combined with all sorts of other bright colors, coral is the kind of color that can be worn by anyone (like periwinkle) since it combines warm and cool tones. Here are some coral colors that I think will be very nice for most people:

The first picture is of NARS Sex Appeal Blush, a beautiful matte peach. The second photo is of Charlotte Ronson’s Sophia lipgloss, a bright coral. The third photo is of MAC’s Tour de Fabulous lipglass, a shimmery coral tone. The fourth is of Stila’s Sparkle Luxe gloss in Fairy Dust, a coral pink that shimmers with tones of blue.

MAC’s Naturally and Vera collections both have a lot of coral that is easy to work with. I have already reviewed the Naturally collection. http://iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2012/02/mac-spring-offerings-goody-goody-gum.html )This eye quad from MAC is Call Me Bubbles (Call Me Bubbles, Fresh Daily, Full of Flavour and Brash). In the second picture we have the Crushed Metallic Pigments in Shifting Sands/Aloha and Lantern Light/Campfire. I find that the quality of the crushed pigments varies. Some are great, while others are not so good, but I advise to use them wet. The third photo is their face powder in Flower Fantasy, when the colors mix it makes a gorgeous coral blush. In the fourth photo we have Creemsheen Lipstick in Innocence Beware, a repromote but a gorgeous nude coral tone that looks great with bright eyes or toned down nude eyes. The last two photos are from their Naturally collection, the blushes and lipglasses (http://iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2012/01/mac-naturally-early-spring-color.html).

There are plenty of other offerings in the coral color category. I saw some Maybelline coral lipgloss and blush at the drugstore, if you want to go that route. Personally, I find that many warmed toned people can really pull off a complete coral look. If you are cool toned, try to keep it to just a lipgloss and maybe a light blush. Experiment at home if you can and then try it out in public. It’s just makeup. It washes off.
