I am pale. My daughter says I am a ghost. So I am always on the search for a good, light foundation that will fit my needs any time of the year. Tarte Cosmetics recently released a new foundation that I think will become a staple in my summer rotation.

The Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation with Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen (that is a lot to say) is great. It comes in eight shades (fair to deep), one of which is light enough for me (fair 00) and is $38.00 for 1.7 oz. I know that is a little steep but you have to consider that the foundation is waterproof and also contains mineral sunscreens like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide instead of the usual chemical sunscreens. That alone makes it worth it for me. Those types of sunscreens reflect the sun’s rays instead of absorbing them and they are less irritating for most people. The foundation also contains mineral pigments, vitamin E, and Amazonian Clay (to help balance the skin, their website says). Plus, it wears for 12 hours and is waterproof. I got first hand knowledge of this when I tried to wash off the swatch and it wouldn’t budge until I used soap. The foundation is also oil free for those with acne concerns, so it should not cause any pimples (I say should not but we well know that any product can and does have issues with some people and we never know why).
I used a small amount on my Beautyblender this morning and found that it blended nicely into the skin without any quick drying time that I would expect from a waterproof foundation. Afterwards the foundation was not dewy but did have a slight shine to it and I did need some powder. I like this so far and will definitely use it in the hot months as long as it doesn’t cause any breakouts. I will update later on that! This foundation is available at various retail outlets like Sephora and Ulta and also online at www.tartecosmetics.com, www.sephora.com, www.ulta.com and www.beauty.com.
