MAC Guilty Passions Holiday Mini Kits, three metallic pigment kits each for $32.50. I just got these and of course I had to stop myself from drooling. The pigments in here seem, just by judging from the website, to have much better pigmentation than the ones they had last year. The three Crushed Metallic Pigment hatbox sets are:
Tenderly Warm: Ever Elegant (shimmery warm bronze), Rose Light (metallic warm pink), Silk Stocking (metallic gold) and Darling Coquette (metallic champagne).
Sweetly Smoky: Dusty Desire (deep shimmery eggplant), Femininity (shimmery violet flashing blue tones), Maribu,(metallic cool pink), Prettified (metallic pink light bronze)
Brilliantly Cool: Spruced (metallic cool forest green), I’ve Got A Crush On You (metallic brown flashing green), Moss Garden (metallic cool mint green), She’s Got Class (metallic white).
I did two looks today. Both are with just the metallic pigments from the sets. If you intend on finding a good look, I believe you need to add outside shadows. With both looks I did, I felt that they were lacking gook a good lighter shimmer to set off the metallic color. You will see this from both of these looks. Don’t get me wrong, I love the crushed metallic pigments. I think the pigmentation is great for almost all of them. Plus, as you can see from the swatches, they generally lay down well on the skin. These will definitely need a primer underneath to help them stay on longer. The colors are also very true and bright.
I used some of them dry and some of them wet. There is no difference in how they go on. For each color scheme I used all for colors and tried to blend them into a seamless look. I think because they are so shimmery and metallic it didn’t work. As mentioned above, you need a matte or satin shadow to really make the look softer. Most of them are fairly chunky in the pots, which is normal for these crushed metallic pigments. One thing that I don’t like is that some of the colors seem to blend into one another and disappear. If you look at the second look I did, you can see that it looks that way. I used four pigments there, how many does it look like I used? Even with the Sweetly Smoky look. How many does it look like I used in that one?

I adore the metallic eye shadows, more this year than I have in years past. Why? Because MAC took the time to make them more pigmented. Seriously, that is a bonus! Also, they really are metallic and I love the colors. I can see myself using them. They are a little expensive though and not subject to any discounts or promotion codes. But I am torn because they need outside eye shadows to really get a nice look from them and they tend to blend into each other when used together. That is why I am giving the 1/2 star. Normally the warm eye shadows would look great with my eye color and skin tone, but today I look sick for some reason. Hmmm…

Oooo, I want those so badly (Tenderly Warm). I am so in love with the warm colors, I just don't know what to do!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the glosses yet?
Thanks for this post!!
I didn't get the glosses, although I am wavering and thinking of getting them. Isn't that what we have to do this time of year, hold back because MAC will take all of our designated rent, mortgage, etc. money? :)
ReplyDeleteOoh I love the colours in the first one!! I think I'm going to have to give it a try!:)
