Review: SEPHORA Collection Classic Mineral Powder Brush #45

SEPHORA Collection Classic Mineral Powder Brush #45

Everyone knows that you can have the best makeup in the world in your hands but if you don’t have something wonderful to apply with, it won’t matter at all. Brushes make cosmetics come alive. Some of the best brushes I have ever used, I have purchased at SEPHORA. So I was glad to try out their new SEPHORA Collection Classic Mineral Powder Brush #45.

This brush is a synthetic bristle brush that has anti-bacterial properties. It is designed specifically for mineral powders, but can also be used for liquid makeup! My favorite thing about this brush is that I can use it these two ways. I love it with the new SEPHORA Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation (http://bit.ly/148PxYk) and I also use it with my other favorites, Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Foundation (http://bit.ly/17qGFfe), Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation (http://bit.ly/15QxVQL) and Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup Oil Free SPF 15. I have tried it with their new MicroSmooth Baked Face Compact foundation (review still to come), and it is not too bad but I am not sure I like the foundation that much.

The brush is designed for loose or pressed mineral powders. The shape of the bristles makes it ideal to help pick up the powders and apply them easily to the face. I actually like it more for liquid foundation though. Maybe it is because I like liquid  or cream foundations more and I am biased. It cleans up easily and dries quickly too. The brush is very nice and I think it is a great buy. I have never had any problems with any of their brushes.

The SEPHORA Collection Classic Mineral Powder Brush #45 is $24.00 and is available at www.sephora.com or at SEPHORA stores. Look With Maybelline Fall 2013

Maybelline Fall 2013

I was so excited when I saw the display for Maybelline’s Fall 2013 collection. Maybelline seems to be the leader right now in the drugstore color war. Their products are definitely winning with me at least! I adore the EyeStudio quads, which have a ton of pigment and wear very well. The ColorSensational lipsticks are also great, they have wide range of colors, the pigments are great and the price is always nice. At Walgreens or Rite-Aid you can always find a BOGO 1/2 sale, one week or the next, so obtaining the colors you want is easy. I didn’t buy any of the nail polishes, because the colors didn’t sing to me. They were all solids, no shimmers and very dark.

The theme this Fall is: purple. Find it in plum, bright purple or any other shade. I love purples because it brings out the green in my eyes. Purple is a great color. It looks good on anyone is some fashion. Periwinkle is a shade of purple-blue and is known as the universal color.

(ColorSensational Lipstick in Fuchsia Fierce)

Below I have done two looks with the Maybelline Fall 2013 color items that I purchased. The first look is my favorite. It is a mod eye with a glossy lavender lip. I really like this first look. It is hot and now. The purple is bright and so shiny that it just makes my eye glow. Love this! With this kind of eye, eyes are best left a little lighter, so I did a light pink-lavender lip. I used two of the EyeStudio quads for this look. First I used the shimmery dark plum from the Violet Femmes in the crease, then I also used the shimmery brown on the outer edge of the lid and under the eye. From the Autumn Dream quad I used the bright shimmery purple all over the lid and blended up into the crease. Then I used the glittery cream from the same quad under the brow. I used black liquid liner from SEPHORA and Pür Minerals mascara. On my cheeks I used NARS Oasis blush. For my lips I used the Flash of Pink lip gloss.

This second look is a smoky eye with a bright fuchsia lip. The only thing I really love about this look is the lip. The smoky eye is okay, it’s not my favorite. I do love this lipstick! I used the Fall Temptation quad as the basis. The copper shade in the crease, then I used the dark matte brown shade on the outer edge of the lid and under the eye. The light glittery gold was used under the brow. I took the glittery green shade from Autumn Dream and used it on the lid. The Autumn Dream quad has gorgeous shades! I used the Pür Minerals mascara again (Double Ego, review to come) and a pink blush from the Crown Brush 10 shade pan. On my lips is the ColorSensational Fuchsia Fierce bright pink. Lovely shade!

This collection had a lot of items to it that were very nice. I do believe there was at least one or two other eye shadow quads and a few shades of the MasterSmoky pencils. I know that there are a few more shades of lipsticks. I didn’t think to take a pic of the display (I goofed!). It is a nice collection for fall. Very pretty!!!!

Review: boscia Green Tea Oil-Control Mask

green tea oil-control maskIf you have oily skin, summer is the bane of your existence, right? As soon as the humidity and heat is cranked up, sebum production is also cranked up! And if you live in a sub-tropical or tropical climate all year long, well then you worry about oily skin all year long too. So it is so nice when a company comes along with a great product that helps get rid of the oil slick.

boscia just came out with a great new addition to their skincare line that will help with this! Their Green Tea Oil-Control Mask takes control of sebum by minimizing production and mattifiying the skin immediately. It is a peel off mask, but is very easy to use. Best for combination/oily skin and oily skins, use it once to twice a week for great results. The Japanese Green Tea in the mask (3%): can reduce sebum production by 70%; has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, so it can help diminish breakouts; is a key anti-oxidant that helps to sooth and protect against free radical damage; can reduce inflammation from sun exposure and can help prevent scarring from breakouts. Cucumber provides oil control and pore minimizing benefits all while soothing and cooling the skin. It also has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits. Silica Powder and Burdock Root absorb excess oil and prevent breakthrough shine throughout the day. They also refine the pores and provide a smooth appearance to the skin. Burdock Root can provide anti-bacterial benefits and reduce blemishes. Matrixyl3000 is a powerful peptide that helps to prevent wrinkles and stimulate cell renewal and boost collagen production in the skin. The mask also contains boscia’s proprietary blend of botanicals, Jojoba Leaf and Willowherb. Jojoba Leaf prevents free radical damage and nourishes the skin. Willowherb calms skin, prevents inflammation, redness and irritation.

After using this mask I noticed that my skin is immediately mattified. Not dry in any way, because the skin is left nourished. And redness that I actually have in my skin is diminished. I love the way boscia does skincare. Their skincare is so good! Everything I have used from their line is wonderful and works just the way it is supposed to. boscia products are always worth the money. Every penny.

Because of the calming and soothing ingredients in this mask, it can be used for acne skin too. It has a lot of anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients that will help to calm and soothe acneic skins. And because it is a peel-off mask, there is not a risk of increasing any irritation to pustules. No scrubbing involved! Even if you have some redness in your skin from say, sun exposure, this mask would help to calm it. The only caveat is that you have to avoid any hair. Make sure to avoid eyebrows and hair when applying. This mask is great because it has a multitude of uses!

boscia Green Tea Oil-Control Mask comes in a 2.8 oz./80 g. tube for $34.00. It can be purchased at www.boscia.com or www.sephora.com and SEPHORA stores. Review: Immuno-Viva Renew Anti-Aging Serum

immuno-viva renew serum

Anti-aging oils are hot right now. So hot that in any brand you will find a version of an anti-aging oil. I love serums and oils because as we age our skin starts to destabilize in function. Serums and oils can help skin function fully again and combat the signs of aging. The Immuno-Viva Renew Anti-Aging Serum contains a patent-pending blend of seed oils with anti-oxidant activity that work synergistically with the Immuno-Viva Core to combat aging. It will reduce: wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, dehydrated skin and dark circles. All of the certified organic non-GMO oils in the serum are made using Immuno-Viva's NatureFRESH Cold Press™ process, which ensures all of the healthy natural constituents in each oil are extracted and preserved.

Immuno-Viva is dedicated to improving the total health of a person. Their products are made with 100% natural, nutrient-dense packed non-GMO fruit and herb seeds. That's why the NatureFRESH Cold-Press™ extraction method avoids harsh chemicals and heat that might compromise the integrity of the products. They use medical advisors to help research and develop the products. Immuno-Viva’s products contain a number of different nutrients, such as Omega-3’s, Pomegranate and ingredients like Black Cumin that the body needs to function. Their process is unique and the supplements are of the highest quality.

Immuno-Viva Renew Anti-Aging Serum contains the following organic oils: cranberry see oil, red raspberry seed oil, sunflower seed oil, black cumin seed oil, rosemary extract and  non-organic tocopherols (Vitamin E anti-oxidants). It is paraben, silicone, petrochemical and synthetic fragrance free. I used the serum for over a month. I wanted to make sure that I did get a good idea of how well it worked. Since I have been using a lot of peels lately, the biggest thing I noticed was that it helped with the dehydration. Peels dehydrate the skin and my skin usually gets very dehydrated. I notice that my skin has not been as dehydrated lately. Yes! I do think that it is due to this serum. The serum is more like an oil and not like a light serum. The price is comparable to other serums/oils on the market. Most of the ingredients are organic, only the tocopherols and fragrance are not. I think it is good at helping keep moisture in the skin but I am not sure it helped much on the front for any other anti-aging benefits. I have a tiny line near my lip and that didn’t diminish. So, I am a little disappointed that it didn’t do much else, but I am happy about keeping the moisture in my skin. Anything that can do that is always pretty helpful!

Immuno-Viva Renew Anti-Aging Serum is $49.45 and is available for a discount of $42.46 if you join their savings club. It can be purchased from www.immunoviva.com. Find Immuno-Viva on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/immunoviva; Follow Immuno-Viva on Twitter: @ImmunoViva.

It's a great way for new and undiscovered bloggers to meet new people, get more followers and find some blogs that they want to follow."

Thank you to http://www.gildedsunflower.com/ for nominating me!

Illamasqua. Hands down the best brand at the moment. Their quality is the best, their collections are fun and fanciful.

2. Where would you go on your dream vacation?

I want to go to

3. Is your current hair color natural? Smile

NO! I haven’t seen my real hair since I was 15. I have had red hair since that time. I do it myself.

Fall. I love the chill in the air, the smell. It is so natural and lovely. Plus the colors of the leaves are so pretty!

I love FB. It is the end all be all of our lives these days. But I am not on it as much as I used to be. However, I do like to keep up with my friends, the blogging communities and companies I follow.

8. How would you describe your style?

Chic. I always try to look nice, I never go out without makeup on. I dress nice and I look like

Both! I love both. Each kind is equally good. I find such great bargains that are of high quality in the drugstore and I have found some stinkers that I have paid good money for. Although my favorite foundations are definitely pricey.

Foundation, it covers a multitude of past sins.

11.  Where do you see your blog in 1 year?

Review: SEPHORA Long-Lasting Ultra Vinyl Eyeliner

long-lasting ultra vinyl eyelinerAn amazing eyeliner that will go great with all the fall eye looks this season is SEPHORA’s Long Lasting Ultra Vinyl Eyeliner. This super shiny, patent leather looking eyeliner is superb. It is a deep black color and has awesome shine. It really does look like patent leather! The brush is thin so you can draw a thin line and then go thick if you want. The only caveat is that you do need to hurry, as I find that this liner dries quickly and once dry it doesn’t budge until you take it off (a good thing really). It comes right off with eye makeup remover and lasts the whole day looking fresh!.

As you can see in the photo below, I wore the eyeliner and did a light flip. My eyes turn down, so doing a Cat Eye look is harder for me. I also used the SEPHORA IT Palette in Nude as eye shadow (review to come soon, LOVE this!!!). It is a great eyeliner. I really love how shiny it is. I have used it several times now and every time I use it, I keep thinking “I really like this”. I adore liquid liners over pencils. Definitely a winner!

look with SEPHORA long-lasting ultra vinyl eyeliner

SEPHORA Long Lasting Ultra Vinyl Eyeliner is available for $11.00 on www.sephora.com and at SEPHORA stores. It will go great with all of the other fall items they have come out with. I used it with the IT Palette here but it can be used with the Elemental Energy Eye Shadow Palette too (http://bit.ly/16Wy7Lc), or even with the Jumbo Waterproof Eye Shadow Pencils (http://bit.ly/1cUq34G) for a nice fall eye look. Try mixing and matching with the Molten Liquid Liners (http://bit.ly/1dFtREG) to create an elaborate eye look.

Look: Items From Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Fragmented Alice

items from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Fragmented Alice, Lime Crime Cosmetics and Bite Cosmetics

This fall Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics bucked trend (dark and deep) and came out with some beautifully light and airy items and made a capsule collection called “Fragmented Alice”. Their look was inspired by an artist’s take on the Alice In Wonderland story. I only got the Loose Colour Concentrates from this collection, as they were the only things that caught my eye. I did a light look for daytime with these colors. Being a mom who has to go out and take her kids to the high school for orientation, I didn’t want to look too out of sorts, so I stuck with a fairy-ish look. The main item they came out with is an acid green Lip Tar, gorgeous but not something I think I can wear around the suburbs!

The three colour concentrates are named: Nevar (shimmery dirty golden olive), Infliction (shimmery patinaed pink opal) and Curved Sky (shimmery icy white with iridescent blue violet). I am loving Curved Sky, as it happens to be my favorite look in makeup. This color can make anything look good and looks great with brown. To add depth for this I also used Smote (shimmery warm taupe), to help tie it all together. Since blue is opposite brown on the color wheel, it works great with brown and the two marry well together. For this look I also used Lime Crime’s uniliner in Reason (super shimmery silver). The mascara I decided on was MAC’s False Lashes, one of my all time favorites. On my lips is Bite’s Muscat (warm nude with a hint of shimmer). My foundation is Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation in Alabaster. I will be reviewing this one. It’s amazing! On my cheeks I used Kat VonD’s Everlasting Face Shaper Blush in bellisima (peachy coral). To me this look is a kind of a “nude” fairy look!

I highly recommend you try Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. Their Loose Colour Concentrates are so beautiful. I have all of them! That is how much I love them. And they are well known for their Lip Tar formula of course. Lime Crime is also another brand I recommend. Some of their items are a little bit out there for my age group but the quality is awesome. And Bite lipsticks are fabulous. They are all natural. Yes! This company makes all natural lipsticks, even red ones, from all natural ingredients. The quality is incredible. It is nice for me, because if I want a good red I can count on them (I am allergic to red food dyes).

The Loose Colour Concentrates are $14.00 each. These kick-ass. They look great dry but wet (as you can see from the swatches) they really kick butt! Bite lipsticks are $24.00 and are some of the best I have ever used on my lips. The uniliner in Reason is $13.99 and is also awesome! I hope you like this look. It isn’t earth shattering but I thought it was okay for the PTA!

Review: Hydroxatone AM/PM Anti-Wrinkle Complex #AntiWrinkleSPF

hydroxatone

I have to first say that I had a free sample of this cream. There are many promises for the Hydroxatone AM/PM Anti-Wrinkle Complex. Most creams that I try are not too bad and I usually end up giving fair to great reviews. This one, however, was not my favorite by far. The very first thing I thought of when I applied it was that it was too heavy. It is very thick and very rich. It is likely a cream for someone with extremely dry skin. Second, I never noticed any results. Not a one. I have a couple of tiny lines that it did not diminish in any way but it didn’t repair any of the other things it is supposed to either.

This cream says it will: erase the appearance of fine lines/crow's feet around the eyes, reduce the appearance of even deep wrinkles in the forehead area, reduce discoloration and uneven skin tone, hydrate skin across all age groups, improve skin tone and radiance, reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation and increase skin hydration by over 20%. It does include a SPF to protect skin against UVA/UVB rays, although it is only SPF 15. It is also dermatologist tested and free of parabens for what it is worth.

It does contain many ingredients that are effective for anti-aging, such as Matrixyl3000, hyaluronic acid and the peptide Argireline. However, if these ingredients are not at a high enough level in the formula, then the product will not work. Hyaluronic acid works. It pulls water from the air and the body to moisturize your skin. This was a cream that did moisturize. Hydroxatone AM/PM Anti-Wrinkle Complex does have some merits. It moisturizes quite well. I didn’t notice that it helped my discolorations though. I don’t think that fine line/wrinkle repair is one of them.

There is a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee, so if you do decide that you want to try it for yourself, have no fear. However, at $69.95 there are other creams I would recommend over this one.

If you would like to take a look at the Hydroxatone website to , please follow this link: http://bit.ly/10wcldz.
