It’s time to talk skincare! Specifically a natural line that is on the rise, Mad Hippie. I have reviewed some of the Mad Hippie products before. I like the line a lot. It is a nice, natural line that is on trend. See my review of the Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil here (http://bit.ly/1FeY3EL) and the Mad Hippie Face Cream (http://bit.ly/1FeY3EL).

Today I am going to review the Mad Hippie Vitamin A Serum. This serum is an exciting new form of Vitamin A, which works to exfoliate the skin by increasing cellular turnover to improve the appearance of sun damaged, aging skin. All of us in our 40’s or over are definitely interested in this! Mad Hippie recommends using this serum or the Exfoliating serum as your main exfoliant.

So what is in this serum that makes it exfoliate and moisturize so well? First off there is Retinyl Retinoate. It is a revolutionary form of Vitamin A that is 2x more bioavailable than retinol while also being significantly more stable. It activates collagen production while gently exfoliating. Cells are turned over, wrinkles are erased and discoloration is decreased, (as are other signs of aging). This ingredient has been shown in studies to keep skin from becoming too dry. It actually can product hyaluronic acid, which plumps up skin and keeps it looking younger. Coffee Berry is an anti-oxidant rich superfruit that enhances collagen production and neutralizes free radicals. Phytoceramides help to replenish the skin’s natural lipid barrier, thus aiding in healing and it also keeps skin moisturized. This serum also has Sodium Hyaluronate, which is a salt of hyaluronic acid (an excellent humectant for the skin). This ingredient has been shown to work better than hyaluronic acid alone, so it is used to penetrate the skin and works to plump it up, moisturizing it and reducing the look of wrinkles. Oat Beta Glucan naturally hydrates and protects the skin while aiding in healing, reducing inflammation and diminishing the appearance of wrinkles, It also has a tightening effect on skin. Also included in the serum is Alpha Lipoic Acid, a very powerful anti-oxidant that has anti-inflammatory qualities. It has been shown to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Finally, Coconut Oil is included as a moisturizing and soothing agent that helps to create a lipid barrier that fends off skin damage. The oil combats wrinkles and discoloration while promoting a natural healing of the skin.

I have been using this serum as my main exfoliant for a month. I have noticed that my skin is very soft, much smoother, the line that seems to want to form between my brows is not getting a chance to form because this serum is kicking its butt! I also had one line that was in the perioral region (around the lips) and it too was not getting a chance to stick around. I also like that some of my hyperpigmentation is lightening up. This serum is definitely helping my skin. Very happy with the Mad Hippie Vitamin A Serum. No complaints here! It does not exfoliate like alpha hydroxy acids do, that is not the goal of the serum. It works like any other retinol. The goal of this serum is to work on the signs of aging such as hyperpigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. It does this while still being gentle to the skin.

Mad Hippie Vitamin A Serum retails for $32.99 for 1.02 fl.oz./30 mL bottle. It can be purchased from www.madhippie.com, Whole Foods, Nugget Market, New Seasons Market, Earth Fare, Natural Grocers, and more natural markets. 2. oh such an interesting product! I have been using Olay Retin-ox products but I haven't noticed any visible improvement. I keep using them as prevention for aging though..I like that this is all natural!
