The other day I posted about one of L’Occitane’s new holiday fragrances, Grapefruit – Rhubarb (http://bit.ly/1SwiFNG), and how much I adored it. Well, today I am going to post about the other new fragrance. This one I love even more. It is so beautiful that I cannot stop wearing it. It is AMAZING. The blend is one I have never had the pleasure of wearing before. It is Jasmine – Immortelle – Neroli. So pretty.
L’Occitane describes it as “Luminous, angelic and sensual. Jasmine-Immortelle-Neroli floral fragrance is both innocent and heady.” Floral and feminine, the jasmine scented fragrance of pastry chef Pierre Hermé balances white notes of gardens at dawn with the gold of a flower that flourishes throughout Corsica. Sparkling head notes bring an unexpected sensation. Lemon and Petit grain tantalize the palate when they come into contact with Pink Pepper, like a breath of fresh air. The exhilarating heart of the fragrance blends the silky floral note of Jasmine and the fresh and light softness of Orange Blossom (Neroli) with the wild, honeyed and aromatic scents of an armful of Immortelle from Corsica. This captures the scent of the Island of Beauty, swept up in woody and musky notes.
Pierre Hermé, the “Picasso of Pastry”, began his career at the age of 14 while working as an apprentice for Gaston Lenôtre. He excelled in his training so much that ten years later his name had spread throughout the restaurant world. He revolutionized the firmly entrenched traditions and invented a world of tastes, sensations and pleasures. In 1997 he founded Pierre Hermé Paris with Charles Znaty, establishing himself as the creator of Haute-Pâtisserie.
This year Olivier Baussan (the founder of L’Occitane), asked him to compose a collection of scents. These scents were to be just the way Pierre Hermé wanted. "When I created these fragrances, it all came down to taste." The result was a beautifully crafted set of fragrances that were living memories of the Mediterranean and the island of Corsica, so loved by both men.
What I love about this fragrance is how it reminds me of Greece on a summer evening. My husband is Greek and when we go to Greece they have night blooming Jasmine that blooms all over the islands. The scent of the Jasmine is my absolute favorite scent on Earth. It is heady, soft, sensual and seductive. They also have Orange Blossoms (Neroli). I love the two scents together. Add in the Immortelle flower and you have a perfume that is absolutely perfect.
Should you want to give this as a gift, I think it would be greatly appreciated by someone. This is something that would be loved. It is a floral fragrance, with all floral notes. Any person who loves floral fragrances would appreciate it. The Eau de Toilette retails for $62.00 (2.5 fl.oz./75 mL).
