As we age (usually around 40), all of the sun damage that we received as we were teens and in our 20’s starts to come out as hyperpigmentation (freckles, age spots and dark spots) on our skin. It is inevitable that this starts to happen and the only thing that we can do about this is to stay out of the sun and to treat this sun damage with a brightening product that gets rid of the sun damage.
What are the best products to treat this inevitable part of the aging process? One is a Vitamin C serum. I have found that Vitamin C serums are wonderful at helping to rid the skin of freckles, age spots, and melasma (hyperpigmentation that occurs on the skin during pregnancy). Usually you need at least a 20% Vitamin C serum and this serum needs to be used daily for best results. It takes a least a month for results to be seen. If you want the serum to work you need to stay out of the sun and you must wear a broad spectrum sunscreen of at least a SPF 30.
I recently tried a product from EverClear, EverClear VC Brightening Serum Vitamin C 20% I am very happy with it. Extremely happy. I noticed results after just 1 week of use, but continued to use it for at least 3 more weeks to see how well the results would be. I noticed that the results were best on the cheeks and some on the forehead. This serum contains actives that also help with the pigmentation issues and provide UVA/UVB broad spectrum benefits. The serum provides a more radiant skin tone. It is for all skin types, it has clinical research to document its results.
Before Use:

Results After 1 Month of Use:

Notice that after one month of use there is less pigmentation on the cheeks and somewhat less pigmentation on the forehead. I will always have some pigmentation on the forehead, there is a lot of sun damage there. The results are there. This serum did a pretty good job of helping to get rid of some of the hyperpigmentation that I have from sun damage. I am very happy with it. It started to work in one week. After four weeks it had worked very well.
I recommend using this product at night. Use after other serums but before any moisturizer, as it is kind of creamy. Make sure to use on the neck and décolleté too. Use every day for best results.
EverClear VC Brightening Serum Vitamin C 20% retails for $30.95 and can be purchased online at www.ever-clear.com.
