Review: Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation #Maybelline #DreamVelvet #Foundation

(product photo courtesy of www.maybelline.com)

I have been a fan of the entire series of Dream foundations from Maybelline. In fact, I am a huge fan of Maybelline cosmetics in general. They have just about he best drugstore line out today. Their newest addition to the Dream foundation line is Dream Velvet Foundation. This foundation provides matte coverage with exceptional hydration. It comes in 12 shades and this times around the lightest shade, 05 Warm Porcelain is actually light enough for my skin tone. Usually Maybelline foundations are just a tad too dark for my complexion. I wear them anyway and lighten them up with my special white foundation additive.

This is Maybelline’s first hydrating matte foundation with a velvet smooth perfection that comes from a unique gel-whipped formula. Skin stays hydrated for up to 12 hours. It is ideal for those with normal to combination skin. The foundation provides medium coverage. The coverage is not really buildable. Sold separately but for use with this foundation is the Dream Blender sponge. It is similar to the makeup sponges being used these days. This one is shaped like an ice cream cone and has a handle on it., which makes it easier to hold and use. I did not purchase the sponge to go with it, as I have a gazillion sponges at home to use. It an be applied with any sponge, a foundation brush or even fingers for that matter. Either way the coverage is spectacular and it looks great on.

The shades available in the Dream Velvet Foundation are: 05 Warm Porcelain, 10 Porcelain Ivory, 15 Ivory, 20 Classic Ivory, 40 Nude, 50 Creamy Natural, 60 Sandy Beige,70 Pure Beige, 75 Natural Beige, 90 Honey Beige, 92 Caramel, and 95 Coconut. The shades lean heavy towards those with lighter complexions. There is really only one shade that is fairly dark.  However, if you do have a light complexion, you are in luck and will likely find a good shade for your skin tone.

I like how well this foundation covers imperfections even with just medium coverage. It goes on easily, seamlessly blends into skin and provides a nice matte finish. The foundation does not settle into pores not does it sit on top of the skin. It blends into he skin, becoming one with it. Skin looks flawless. It lasts all day long, wearing well and not coming off. Like the other Dream foundations, this one is a keeper.

Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation retails for $10.99 (1 fl.oz./30 mL) and can be purchased at mass market retailers nationwide including Bed Bath and Beyond (where I purchased mine), Ulta, Walgreens, Rite-Aid and CVS. It can also be purchased online at www.maybelline.com.
