I have long been a fan of NARS Cosmetics. Ever since I can remember. One of the reasons is because NARS Cosmetics has a wonderful foundation selection that is light enough for my skin tone. I am extremely fair and have a lot of trouble finding a foundation that is light enough to work not only for my fair tone but that is neutral too.
Recently the line came out with a long-wearing foundation called NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation. It is AMAZING. Not only does it come in 33 skin-matching shades (enough for just about anyone) to fit all skin tones and undertones. It lasts all day long (it wears for 16 long hours, I think that counts as all day long) and it is transfer-resistant, sweat-resistant, fade-resistant and non-drying to the skin. This foundation has medium natural, lightweight, breathable, buildable coverage that features full-powered radiance to smooth the look of skin. The formula stays color-true, it doesn't oxidize (turn orangey) and continues to stay fresh and vibrant looking, just as when it was applied. It wears longer, stays stronger, and looks better with each hour. Also, it never feels cakey, heavy or mask-like. Specialized skin-matching technology ensures your truest match yet. Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation contains a unique blend of a translucent base with micronized amino-acid coated pigments and mineral tone-balancing powders that mimic skin's tone, fusing with the closest match. NARS' Skin Optimizing Complex, a blend of raspberry, apple an watermelon extracts help support skin's elastic fibers to smooth and improve skin's appearance over time for optimal radiance. The foundation is oil-free, fragrance-free, has been dermatologist-tested and is non-comedogenic.
In a 1-week independent U.S. consumer study of 65 participants:
The best way to us this foundation is to take a pearl-size amount of product. The foundation is very concentrated in pigments and blends easily. A little goes a very LONG way. When too much foundation is use, the Skin Recognition Pigments, which act like magnets for long-wear benefits, may get stuck on dry patches or rough skin areas on the surface of the skin. It is therefore very important to use an exfoliant to smooth the skin's surface before applying this foundation. First apply moisturizer with sunscreen, then a light primer and let sink into skin. Apply foundation with fingertips, then buff into skin with a sponge if needed.
I have used many, many foundations before and this one is by far one of my favorites. It creates a glow to the skin and covers it like nothing else yet wears so well.
Here is a photo of me wearing the foundation in the shade Oslo (fair with pink undertones), the lightest shade:
I adore this foundation. I used to abhor long-wear foundations because they would go on cakey and be drying to the skin. Not anymore. The technology has changed so much that now long-wearing foundations are so much better and this is where you really want to spend your money with your makeup. Spend it on a fabulous foundation. NARS also has a Radiant Creamy Concealer. I hear that is also supposed to be very good. I am not in the need of a concealer (not really in the need of a foundation either!!!) but I will likely get that too.
The NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation retails for $49.00 and can be found online at www.narscosmetics.com, www.sephora.com and www.ulta.com. You can also purchase it at SEPHORA and ULTA Beauty stores and anywhere NARS is sold.
