Rahua products, well known for their pure ingredients and wonderful performance, would not be available today if it were not for the renowned hairstylist Fabian Llinguin, who works out of New York City. He was visiting the Amazon rainforest as an environmentalist, educating the indigenous people about their land rights and human rights, when he realized he was surrounded by women with fantastically long, luxurious, lustrous hair that cascaded past their waists. He was told the secret is rahua oil. For centuries the members of the tribe had relied on this oil the nourish the hair and skin. The women of the tribe gave him one bottle of rahua oil to take back home with him.
In his 5th Ave. salon he decided (as an experiment) to use the oil as a treatment on a client with extremely dry, damaged hair. After 10 minutes, her hair was completely transformed: from brittle and lifeless to healthy, shiny and bouncy. Fabian was as shocked as his client. Here was the proof he needed that this ingredient produced tangible results. He knew he had something very special with the rahua oil. It is produced by the Quechua-Shuar tribe in the same complex, ritualistic and sustainable fashion it has been for generations. Fabian has long wanted to support the rainforest's indigenous people and did not want to interrupt this process.
In 2008, Anna Ayers, Fabian's wife and business partner, joined in the experience. She is a fashion designer and New York based trend forecaster. She designed a purposeful beauty experience for customers around the world. Together they launched the Rahua brand, drawing on the wisdom of a legendary people to formulate a singular line of innovative, plant based products to heal, nourish, beautify and transform hair and skin. To this day, more than 500 families from the Quechua-Shuar, Achuar and neighboring tribes work with Fabian and Anna to cultivate the rainforest grown ingredients used in the Rahua hair care and body care collections.
Made with 100% pure handmade rahua oil, this luxurious concentrated hair and scalp treatment delivers dramatic results. Sustainably harvested in the Amazon rainforest, as mentioned above, rahua oil visibly revitalized and strengthens weak, damaged strands; leaving hair supremely healthy and naturally radiant. And infusion of antioxidants, antibacterials and microcirculatory properties work together to balance and restore the scalp. Super-fine molecules push color pigmentation deep into the hair shaft, greatly extending color endurance. They use Symbiotic rahua.* It also calms, soothes and protects the scalp. The oil promotes blood circulation and stimulates hair growth. Finally, it delivers long-lasting moisture and high shine. Naturally scented with the fresh, woodsy aroma of Palo Santo oil, this super-concentrated deep treatment heals, hydrates and transforms all hair types.
Rich in Omega 9 nutrients, entirely plant derives, handmade and sustainably sourced, the rahua elixir will help strengthen strands, nourish and regenerate the scalp and hair follicles along with producing amazing shine. The secret to the Omega 9 rich oil lies in the science of the extraordinarily small molecular structure. Unlike other botanical oils or synthetic silicones, rahua elixir deeply penetrates the hair's cortex, bonding and repairing it, while simultaneously smoothing the cuticle. This product is excellent for over-processed, dry and porous hair. It can help hair grow long and with regular use hair looks healthy and vibrant. The two main ingredients in this elixir are Rahua-Ungurahua, which fortifies weak, damaged strands while nourishing and regenerating the scalp and hair follicles. Palo-Santo is also called "Holy Wood" because it is precious to Amazonian shamans and is Rahua's signature scent, which is earthy and woodsy.
How to use rahua elixir: If you have healthy, lustrous hair, warm one to three drops in palms and through hair and into scalp daily after styling. For an intense hair repair treatment, work a full dropper into hair and onto the scalp, massaging in thoroughly for maximum penetration. Leave in for 15 minutes or overnight. Then shampoo, condition and style as usual. To fully realize the reconstructive results, repeat treatment every one to two weeks.
(*Symbiotic® is Rahua’s signature standard. In order for an ingredient to be classified as Symbiotic®, it must be rainforest grown (wild) in undisturbed virgin forest, harvested and prepared using indigenous knowledge by people indigenous to the virgin forest environment, and it must be purchased at a price that helps to grow and sustain these traditions, build economies, and empower the indigenous people.)
A Green Utopia
I used the rahua elixir on my hair both ways, in a scalp and hair treatment and just on my hair with a few drops daily. My hair is color treated, from a salon, and I need to keep it from being exposed to UV rays, any damaging products, wind, saltwater, chlorine, etc. I found the scalp and hair treatment to be divine. I have very long hair and needed more than 1 dropper full, more like 3-4. You have to use a lot to saturate the hair. Then wrap it up with plastic wrap so it doesn't drip everywhere and put a towel over it. Using your own body heat to help is a good thing. I leave it on for a good half hour. Then I shampoo and condition. My hair is like silk afterwards. For daily use, I use a few drops and then run them through my hair and scalp. I have very dry hair and this product helps keep moisture in my hair, helping to keep frizziness at bay.
