Sometimes our skin does not act like we want it to act. It gets congested (not like when we have a cold) but more like full of blackheads (comedones) and whiteheads (milia). There are only a few things to do in a situation like this. First you need to try and prevent it from happening. Second, you have to treat the congestion and get rid of it. That usually requires a trip to an Esthetician, such as myself for a good facial. If the congestion is not that bad, it can be treated at home with some products that can detoxify the skin and help rid it of the impurities in the pores (hair follicles) that are causing them to fill up with dead skin cells and sebum.

One of these products that I can recommend is Clark's Botanicals Dual Charcoal Detox. This multi-tasking miracle mask absorbs impurities and whisks away dead skin cells before delivering melt-in-your-skin moisture. It contains two types of Charcoal that gently buff away and purify while Jasmine, fruit extracts and Algae help nourish, brighten and protect from environmental pollutants. It helps get your skin ready for a long-lasting glow. This product is best for anyone looking to gently brighten and revitalize a dull complexion.

Why does it work so well? Well that is because it is a one and done product, a three-in-one product. This gentle cleanser, exfoliant and mask buffs, brightens, purifies, hydrates and protects. Ingredients like Binchotan Japaneses Charcoal absorb impurities and oil without stripping skin. Activated charcoal powder gently exfoliates and helps to reveal fresher-looking skin. Mango, pineapple and papaya extracts loosen dead skin cells and help to gently exfoliate. Ginger extract helps to brighten skin. Jasmine and tamarind extracts help to soothe and rebalance the skin. Encapsulated jojoba oil melts upon application and helps to soften the skin. Padina Pavonica (a brown algae) helps to protect against environmental pollutants.

The Dual Charcoal Detox works well with the Smoothing Marine Cream. It also works great with Nourishing Youth Serum. And it works well with the Anti-Puff Eye Cream. This product does not contain the following: Parabens, phthalates, sulfates, hydroquinone, formaldehyde, ethanolamines (MEA/DEA/TEA), BHA/BHT, triclosan/triclocarban, petrolatum, silicones, artificial colors and plastic beads. Less than one percent synthetic fragrance. Gluten free. Certified vegan and cruelty-free. Made in the USA.

How to use: apply a quarter-sized amount to damp or dry in the am or pm. Massage thoroughly as black formula turns to white. Use as a three-minute mask before rinsing with water. Can be left on up to five minutes.

I love how this product makes my skin feel. It gently removes the dead skin that covers up the pores being clogged so I can easily remove any congestion. Or the actual congestion comes out with this mask. I also like how natural this product is, with the charcoal and extracts, especially having jasmine in it, which reminds me of Greece so much. It smells amazing. This product also helps to brighten the skin and leaves it with an even skin texture.
