  • Location: Woodlawn Beach State Park3580 Lake Shore Road, Blasdell, NY 14219
Tomorrow, diving teams from the New York State Police, Hamburg Town Police and Erie County Sheriff’s Office will host a cleanup of Woodlawn Beach to be sure it is safe for a weekend of Special Olympics New York Polar Plunge activity. Media is welcome on Thursday, December 4th between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
It is anticipated that the Buffalo Polar Plunge, together with a Super Plunge taking place on the beach the day prior, will raise more than $200,000 to benefit local Special Olympics New York athletes. Last winter, 10,000 people plunged into cold waters around New York State, raising more than $1.5 million total.
Individuals and teams interested in registering for Saturday’s plunge can do so at www.PolarPlungeNY.org/Buffalo. Donations are welcome and all funds raised help support the cost for athletes to participate in training and competitions.
