Chronic Inflammatory Diseases and CBD Products

CBD is short for the word cannabidiol, which is a cannabinoid found within the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids are molecules contained in the cannabis plant and are responsible for much of hemp’s potential benefits. There are over 100 cannabinoids in cannabis, including CBD and THC. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is considered the psychoactive component of marijuana and cannabis plants. CBD has many of the same effects and properties of THC, but is completely non-psychoactive.
CBD products work by binding to endocannabinoid receptors in our bodies. These receptors are naturally present in the human body, and our bodies actually make cannabinoids on their own.
