5.3 oz./$1.99

i eat a lot of yogurt. At least once daily. Yogurt is very good for intestinal, skin and vaginal health. Recently I was treated to a taste of vegan almond yogurt, which I thought may not be so interesting but turned out to be quite tasty. Vegan products are really coming into their own and making a huge niche in the marketplace and I thought this would be a good chance to share what I thought about the yogurt.

Yogurt with bacteria cultures is extremely important for your body's microbiome. The microbiome is a world of good bacteria that live within the intestines, on the skin and in the vagina to help keep out the bad bacteria. All of these bacteria are needed to help have the body keep its state of homeostasis. When you do not have that then the body can get an infection.

AYO Almond Yogurt was born from almonds. It is grown from family farms in California's sunny San Joaquin Valley. It is blended with organic fruit or vanilla. Cultures are added to help make it a rich probiotic yogurt. Loaded with a lightly toasted almond flavor and pure goodness. Four generations of the Billings family has been growing almonds in this valley and they take farming seriously. Like introducing sustainable practices, vertical integration and clear traceability.

The yogurt is made from primarily made from almond milk (almond butter + water) sugar, fruit, natural flavors, lactic acid, thickeners and live cultures. It has the following nutritional characteristics:
  • 150 calories per serving
  • 10 g of fat
  • 4% calcium DV
  • 4% Iron
  • 2% Potassium
  • 4 g of Protein
  • 19 g of Carbohydrates
  • 7 g of Fiber 25% DV
  • 11 g sugar (including 9 g of added sugar 18% DV)
As you can see the biggest nutritional value is the daily value of fiber. This yogurt not only has the benefit of a high value of fiber but it has active cultures too. If you cannot eat regular yogurt this would be a great alternative for you.

AYO Almond Yogurt comes in four flavors: Blueberry, Strawberry, Peach and Vanilla. I tried out the Blueberry and Vanilla Flavors. I expected it to taste rather bland but was surprised when it tasted rather good. The yogurt is thinner than Greek yogurt, as it has not been strained. It does contain active cultures and therefore is great for the microbiome in your intestinal tract, the skin and also for vaginal health. I would definitely purchase this just for the fiber percentage  and taste alone.

AYO Almond Yogurt is currently available in supermarkets around the country. Until Next Time~
