Bloomeffects is a new range of clean skincare that is made with primarily made with recycled packaging is 100% recyclable. As are the containers. The line contains no sulfates, parabens, phthalates or fragrance.  Their philosophy is to be as sustainable as possible. The co-founders of the brand, Kim Van Haaster and Monica Aurigemma, have a long history in the beauty business. Ms. Van Haaster knew she wanted to start Bloomeffects after falling in love with the love of her life and moving to the Netherlands. She asked Ms. Aurigemma to help her. Ms. Van Haaster's husband introduced her to the tulip that would soon be the inspiration for Bloomeffects. Eventually they would have one of their very own hybrid named after their brand. It was chosen to be the Bloomeffects tulip because of its unique dark purple color and beautiful shape. It is a huge honor for Bloomeffects to the join the likes of Dutch King Willam-Alexander and Sir Paul McCartney to have a tulip christened after them.

Their Dutch Dirt Mask is a multi-tasking dynamo. It is an exfoliating scrub and mask in one. Packed full of botanical plant extracts and fruit enzymes for perfectly purified, pore-purged skin. This mask contains natural botanical extracts, floral and fruit enzymes as well as their Proprietary Dutch Tulip Complex to help detox, purify and deeply exfoliate the skin. Think of it like a reset button for your skin: skin will be clean, fresh and completely clarified. The tubes are made from recycled PICEA wood and will look different for everyone.

Directions: Always perform a patch test first, especially if you have sensitive skin or are on products like Retin-A or other retinoids like Retinol. To use as an exfoliating scrub (recommended if you have sensitive skin): gently massage a small amount onto clean wet skin in areas you need a deep clean and detox, avoiding eye area. Rinse with warm water and gently pat dry. Try this in the shower for an extra convenient daily scrub. To use as a mask (recommended if you have oily skin): apply an even layer of the mask to clean skin and avoid eye area. Allow mask to dry and leave on for 5 - 10 minutes or until dry. Rinse with warm water and washcloth and gently pat dry. Use once or twice weekly for optimal results. This mask is not recommended for extremely sensitive skin, use as an exfoliating scrub only. The mask is recommended for combination, oily to acneic skin types.

As an exfoliating scrub this mask works great because it is very gentle. The exfoliating mask has pumice and volcanic sand in it, which in itself can be abrasive but when used 1x a week should not be too harsh on sensitive skin. It is finely ground pumice & sand, and does work to exfoliate well. I happen to use Retin-A, and found that I could use this mask as an exfoliating and purging skin mask both. I chose to use it after a particularly tough week on my skin. It also contains Moroccan Lava Clay, which is very absorptive. I would not use this mask more than once or twice a week if I had oily skin. Glycerin and sodium hyaluronate (one of the molecules of hyaluronic acid) act as humectants, adding moisture back into the skin. Kaolin and charcoal powder absorb oil and help clear out the clogged hair follicles. A botanical extract like bamboo stem extract is soothing to the skin, helping to prevent inflammation. It is a great anti-acne ingredient. Hibiscus flower extract, a naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acid that contains malic and citric acids, helps to loosen the dead skin cells that are on the surface of the skin and in the hair follicles (pores), thus clogging them up. Prickly pear enzyme also helps to eliminate dead skin cells, dissolving them and thus preventing them from clogging up the skin. Sodium lactate is nature's natural moisturizing factor. Finally, Bloomeffects Proprietary Dutch Tulip Complex is rich in antioxidants, natural moisturizing factors and amino acids for softer, smoother and glowingly hydrated skin.
