Sunscreen is the most important anti-aging product you can use. It helps to actually prevent about up to 90% of photo aging (sun damage) and should be used starting at birth. Also, it is something that needs to be used EVERYDAY (and I mean daily) even when the sun isn't out and you are indoors. The sun's rays can penetrate clouds and windows, causing sun damage that isn't visible for many years.
I read about First Aid Beauty Weightless Liquid Mineral Sunscreen With Zinc Oxide SPF30 Broad Spectrum online and thought I would try it out since it got such a good review. Sunscreen is very important to me because even though I am only 49, I have already had skin cancer twice. That is why I am saying that sunscreen is so important. Not only does it help to prevent sun damage but it helps to prevent skin cancer. What makes this sunscreen so special is that it is a mineral sunscreen but it is also weightless. Usually mineral sunscreens feel heavy on the skin, but not this one. It is light as a feather. This non-whitening, mineral sunscreen protects skin from UVA/UVB rays and absorbs quickly into the skin with a light, invisible non-greasy finish that can be worn alone or under foundation. The ultra-light formula is packed with antioxidants and defends against environmental aggressors and pollution that contribute to early skin aging. It has a sheer tint that blends seamlessly into all skin tones (which means no white cast) and it is oil-free and non-comedogenic, so it will not clog pores. Contains 16.8% zinc oxide, a chemical-free sunscreen that will not cause an allergic reaction if you happen to be allergic to chemical sunscreens. This product is great for oily, combination, normal and dry skin types. And it is a great solution for skin problems such as oiliness, large pores, redness and dryness.
Zinc oxide is a nano-free physical sunscreen that helps to filter harmful UV rays without irritating the skin. Alteromonas Ferment Filtrate is a botanical extract that helps protect skin against exposure to the elements and also helps regenerate, soothe and retains moisture in the skin. Vitamin E is an antioxidant rich vitamin that helps condition the skin and stave off environmental aggressors. Finally, the FAB Antioxidant Booster is a blend of three botanical antioxidants (Licorice Root, Feverfew and White Tea) that helps counteract environmental aggressors. This sunscreen is gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free and nano-free. It is also free from alcohol, artificial colors, artificial fragrance, lanolin, mineral oil, parabens, petrolatum, phthalates, propylene glycol, sulfates, talc, formaldehydes, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, ethanol and ethyl alcohol. This product is suitable for sensitive skin types and is vegan.
In a consumer perception study after immediate use:
To use: shake well before using. Apply as the last step in your skincare routine. If you have dry skin, you might want to apply a moisturizer prior to using this, as it is not a moisturizer too. Can be worn alone or under makeup. Reapply at least every 2 hours. Use a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating.
I will state that this product does have a tint to it. I have very fair skin and after using it, it looked like I was almost wearing foundation. Other reviews on the website have commented that people with fair skin could most likely not use it because the tint is so dark but that is simply not true. On me it looked really good. So good that I felt I could skip the foundation. I did try wearing it without a moisturizer underneath and felt that it was a little dry. For my skin, I do believe that wearing a lightweight moisturizer is better. This product is definitely weightless. It goes on so light that you don't feel it is there at all. It is important to shake the sunscreen first. What is nice is that this is a good product for all skin tones, as there is not any white cast to it. Also, it goes good with all skin types too, as it is weightless. It also covers up redness. Is this my perfect sunscreen? Almost. I would say it is on the top two, along with Supergoop's Unseen SPF40.
