One thing that I have noticed as I have gotten older is that my skin has become more sensitive. Part of the reason is that I have developed eczema on my neck, so that would at least explain some of it. But I have to believe that one of the other reasons has to be menopause and the hormonal disruptions that I am experiencing in my skin. My skin has become drier, and with dry skin often comes sensitivity.

What I decided to do was focus on the microbiome of my skin. The microbiome is extremely important in keeping our skin (which is the body's largest organ) functioning at an optimal level. It is a combination of microorganisms that consist of good bacteria and fungi to help keep out the bad bacteria and fungi. Keeping this in homeostasis is very important for the skin to function properly. When it is not, then rashes and inflammation occur. It is thought that eczema and atopic dermatitis might be due to a dysfunction of the skin's microbiome. You will likely be hearing more about skincare products that help out regarding the function of the skin's microbiome.

Korres is one company that specifically has a whole line dedicated to it. Their Greek Yoghurt line for Sensitive Skin with Probiotics is for skin whose microbiome isn't functioning at an optimum level. The Greeks have long believed in using fermented yogurt for treating various ailments. I had it used as a sunburn treatment once. The lactic acid and probiotics helped to cool and soothe the inflammation of the burn and prevented blistering.

Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Gel-Cream is one of their products from their sensitive skin line that I have tried out and used when my skin is acting up and believe me, it works wonderfully. This cream is the ultimate hydrating, gel-cream moisturizer with a protein-boosting Greek yoghurt for a plumped, healthy looking bounce that lasts all day. It has a unique whipped texture that immediately melts into the skin and unlocks a time-released hydration that lasts for 48 hours. Non-comedogenic and clinically-proven microbiome-friendly technology provides a skin veil for an ultimate healthy glow. The gel-cream is made with real Greek Yoghurt that is packed with collagen boosting protein, balancing probiotics, vitamin and minerals, this superfood nourishes and restores nutrients to the skin. Mineral rich sea water helps to minimize pores and lock in hydration. Passion Flower Oil minimizes the look of fine lines and wrinkles while keeping the skin smooth, plump and hydrated. Dermatologically tested, it may contain traces of wheat/nuts and is suitable for vegetarians. Korres is a cruelty-free line. They recommend this product for dry, dehydrated and oily skin types.

100% of those who used this product saw an improvement in skin moisture and softness after one use. 91% saw an improvement with more radiant, balanced looking skin after one use. 91% saw an improvement in skin's overall appearance after one use.

To use, apply a quarter sized-dollop to face and neck twice daily on clean skin. In the morning make sure to apply sunscreen afterwards. Use with the Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser and the Korres Greek Yoghurt Re-Balancing Skin Supplement Serum for best results.

Personally, I use this after using the Re-Balancing Skin Supplement Serum when my skin is acting up. And when I mean acting up, I mean, feeling inflamed, itchy, dry, red and irritated. I have found that this and the serum help to calm my skin down immediately. This adds soothing, calming moisture to the skin just when it is needed the most. The probiotics in the formula help to restore the skin's microbiome, thus helping to restore the skin's natural moisture barrier and soothing the skin in the process too. When skin is naturally inflamed, the first thing that you need to do is to soothe, calm and hydrate it. This cream also contains glycerin as the second ingredient, which is a great humectant. Glycerin is going to add much needed moisture to the skin that is raw or inflamed. It also contains another humectant, sodium hyaluronate, which will hydrate the skin. The cream is full of botanical extracts that are well known of being soothing to the skin. It contains antioxidants such as ascorbic acid and tocopheryl acetate, Vitamin C and Vitamin E respectively. They will fight off free radicals that attack the skin's cells and cause premature aging. Lactic acid and salicylic acid, which are known for being exfoliants but also known for their anti-inflammatory effects are also included in the ingredients. All in all, it is a great gel-cream for sensitive skin.
