Dermalogica always has great ways of bringing the latest technology to its skincare. I recently posted about their Active Moist Moisturizer (https://bit.ly/2MEQtkrwith its probiotic technology, for the microbiome. Today I want to discuss another moisturizer they have, with technology for TEWL (Trans-Epidermal Water Loss). This one, called Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream, is for normal, dry and sensitive skin types.

Skin Smoothing Cream infuses skin with 48 hours of continuous hydration and helps protect skin against environmental stress. It features a state-of-the-art complex that works on a molecular level to help reduce TEWL and infuses skin with 48 hours of vital moisture. The advanced technology helps to shield the skin's microbiome from environmental stress. Which is a good idea anytime, as the microbiome helps to protect the skin against stress, microorganisms, etc. This cream has a dynamic Hyaluronic Acid Complex combined with Mallow, Cucumber and Arnica that distributes hydration throughout the skin; helping to lock in moisture for lasting hydration. All three of these ingredients are also anti-inflammatory to the skin and help to soothe and smooth sensitive skin. Formulated with antioxidants such as Grape Seed Extract, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Vitamin E also helps to provide moisture to the skin. Ivy Extract is an anti-inflammatory agent and is good for sensitive skin types. The cream also contains ingredients like Linoleic Acid, which helps to soften the skin and has Omega-6 fatty acids and Serine, which is another skin softener and smoothing agent. Panthenol, also in the formulation, is very soothing & softening to the skin which is why it is good for sensitive skin and dry skin.

To use: after cleansing and toning, apply over face and throat in light, upward strokes. Use twice daily, morning and night. During the morning make sure to apply a SPF30 over Skin Smoothing Cream. Formulated without any artificial fragrances or colors. Certified cruelty-free, vegan and gluten-free.

This thick, white cream is great for those whom have dry and sensitive skin types. I would recommend it for normal skin too. It is definitely something that once you put on, quenches the thirst your dry skin has had, on a molecular level with the Hyaluronic Acid Complex. Normally I would suggest something with more glycerin in it but this cream does a perfectly adequate job of hydrating normal, dry and sensitive skin types. And it keeps skin hydrated for more than just the one day. It is supposed to keep hydrating the skin for up to 48 hours. I do think it accomplishes this because my skin didn't feel dry after using it for at least 1 1/2 days. It does have two types of Hyaluronic Acid high up on the ingredients list. And these, at the right molecular weights, will hydrate the skin to the lower epidermis (basal layer). There is Glycerin in the formula, in the form of a Amylopectin/Glycerin Crosspolymer. It is still a humectant (like Hyaluronic Acid) that draws water into the skin and helps to hydrate it. The ingredient is just lower on the list than usual and makes the cream less unctuous. But it still hydrates extremely well. It just hydrates without feeling like it is as heavy on the skin as some other creams for dry skin. The main extracts in this cream are also very soothing to sensitive skin too, making this cream great for anyone with dry, sensitive skin who needs something soothing for their skin. I found it very soothing and hydrating to my skin. I happen to have very dry skin.

Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream retails for $43.00 per 1.7 fl.oz./50mL, it also comes in a 3.4 oz. size for $69.00 and a 0.5 fl.oz. for $16.00. It is available from www.dermalogica.com.
