Whether you suffer from oily and acneic skin most of the year, or just in the spring and summer, that time of the year is upon us again. The change in seasons where skin becomes oilier due to an increase in humidity and temperature and acne lesions start to thrive. Personally I am turning 50 in a few days and I STILL suffer from acne lesions at this time of the year! Luckily only on my chin though. It seems as if we cannot prevent them completely sometimes no matter what we do, but we must try as hard as possible. This means that skincare needs to change with the seasons too. If your skin turns even slightly acneic and oily with the changing seasons, you need to adjust your skincare regimen. That means using more ingredients and products targeted toward acne prevention and relief.
One of these products that I speak of is a excellent product, the DERMA E Anti-Blemish Clarifying Bi-Phase Toner. It is a lightweight yet effective toner that deeply penetrates the skin to help remove sebum, reduce redness and balances the skin's moisture levels after cleansing. This product is a powerful and unique one that helps to clarify and soothe the skin after cleansing without stripping it. Formulated with Tea Tree Oil, Vitamin E, Rose Water, Aloe Vera and Cucumber. It enhances the effectiveness of other anti-acne products and can layered with other anti-acne fighting treatments. What do the ingredients do? First, Tea Tree Oil helps to clarify, comfort and deeply cleanses the skin. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps to nourish the skin and improve its texture. Next, Rose Water contains powerful antioxidants to condition and soothe the skin. Aloe Vera and Cucumber both act to help calm and soothe irritated and inflamed skin. There are other important ingredients in this toner that help to curb acne lesions. Glycolic Acid is a powerful exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells, and dislodges them from within the pores (hair follicles), thus preventing them from causing acne lesions to begin with. Glycerin is a humectant that draws water to the skin and doesn't prevent acne but helps keep skin from being dehydrated by all of the other ingredients, hydrating the skin with moisture. Chamomile Flower Water is an anti-inflammatory and acts to soothe the skin, helping to relieve irritation and redness of acne lesions. Finally, Paprika Extract has antibacterial properties that help prevent acne lesions to begin with.
To use this toner, first you must shake it up because it is a bi-phase toner and it must be emulsified. Apply with a cotton pad to clean skin. Great for both day and night.
I would recommend this only for combination, oily and acneic skin types. It has great ingredients in it that make it perfect for skin that is suffering from acne lesions. Especially ones that are mild to moderate and ones that might be seasonal in nature too. The only issue I have with this toner is that the cap seems to allow some of the liquid from the toner to come up through to the top and accumulate prior to opening, when I shake it. Then, when I open it up it then falls all over me and I get soaking wet. I have to open the the toner and shake it closed with my finger and cotton pad over the hole in cap at the top. Otherwise it does a great job of helping to remove sebum, dead skin cells, and soothes the skin. All of the ingredients in this toner are well known ingredients and are great for their intended purpose. DERMA E is proven clean beauty.
