If you suffer from hyperpigmentation issues on you body as well as your face, then you will be happy to discover there are body lotions that cater specifically to help overcome this problem. DERMA E Lemongrass & Thyme Tone-Correcting Shea Body Lotion contains several different ingredients that lighten up but, don't completely get rid of pigmentation issues. For that you usually have to have laser ablation.
There are two ways this lotion works. First of all, it contains a poly-hydroxy acid in the form of Gluconolactone. Next it has Vitamin C Ester in the form of Ascorbyl Palmitate and Licorice Extract, which all help to brighten and even out the skin tone. Containing heavy moisturizing ingredients, this body lotion also helps to relieve dry, itchy skin. Glycerin (from a vegetable source) is a humectant that adds moisture to the skin by grabbing water from the air to the molecule. It can actually can penetrate to the deepest layer of the epidermis, the basal layer. Vitamin E helps to soothe and moisturize the skin. Shea butter is an incredible moisturizing ingredient that really helps to soothe dry, itchy skin. As does Panthenol (also known as ProVitamin B5), while also being somewhat humectant like. For itchiness and soothing properties, Allantoin was also included. By including Lemongrass Extract, it has anti-inflammatory properties. Reducing redness, inflammation, itching, and swelling. It is rich in antiseptic and astringent properties, leaving skin glowing and youthful. Thyme helps to stimulate circulation, leaving skin with a glow. Finally, it helps to minimize the appearance of sun damage. Remember to keep using a sunscreen, especially while using this product, which could cause some sun sensitivity.
To use: apply as needed to entire body, concentrating on areas of dryness.
I used this lotion and noticed a minor difference in the sun damage on my arms after only a few days. I have a gazillion freckles on my arms from years of sun exposure. This lotion is wonderful because it helps to moisturize the skin and to correct sun damage. I don't think this would make a huge difference in the skin but will help to even out small to minor differences that someone has. It also works well if your skin is dry. For this reason I do recommend the product, It has a great price point and smells absolutely amazing. Lemongrass is one of those scents that once you smell it, you want to smell it again and again, because it is so beautiful: clean, crisp, citrusy with green notes to it. And thyme has the herbal qualities to it.
