Physicians have peels that are extremely strong, that leave you so red and remove so many layers of skin that you are often not able to see people for a few days. The peel I am speaking of is the Obagi peel. Physician's peel are more expensive of course, but if you are looking for better results it is worth it. I would recommend them for those with extensive sun damage, acne scars and/or light lines. Sometimes your skin is so raw afterwards you need to wear Aquaphor on it for a few days! The cost of the Obagi system ranges from $1500 to $3500 depending on how deep the peel went.

Both laser and peel frighten me because my skin is sensitive. I have had redness from incorrectly applied or just the wrong products. My answer for me has been to go to an esthetician four times a year who tends to use natural products from Switzerland. I know they are fruit based but can't remember the name. That and taking good care of my skin for many years has helped and I am fortunate not to have any serious problems.
ReplyDeleteFor sensitive skins it is very difficult to find the right peel. Enzymes are good, since they are gentler. Basically they break up the dead skin cells and get them to slough off like a peel. Scrubs are out of the question too in this case. I am interested in knowing what this line from Switzerland is, I might have heard of it before. Pevonia perhaps? The main goal is to prevent problems, since a problem is often more expensive to correct.
