Smashbox Softbox Eye Palette

Hello, my name is Marie and I am a Makeup Junkie. Not only that, I have a particular fondness, let us say, for palettes. I looooooooooooove palettes. The idea of all those yummy shadows put together in a cute little box for me to play with, well, I just get all excited over the idea! Yesterday I was in Sephora and I had some money left over on my anniversary gift card. (I know, unbelievable?) I saw this cute little Smashbox palette full of nude shadows. Yes, I have a million of them but, what the heck, it is like they were free!

The Smashbox Softbox Eye Palette ($48.00) is available at www.smashbox.com and Sephora. It consists of 9 eyeshadows and 2 cream eyeliners, a mirror and also comes with a very nice brush. It also comes with a small bottle of their Photo Finish Lid Primer, which is a creamy color. Really the best thing about this palette is all the colors work in harmony. Some of their palettes (and some that come from other companies) have shadows that just don't look like they would work well together. This one on the other hand, consists of all nude tones that look amazing.

The first row, from left to right, is Nectar (matte peach), Vanilla (matte cream) and Flirt (glittery taupe). The second row is Lucky Penny (shimmery copper), Sugar (shimmery pinkish-peach) and Stone (matte dark taupe). The third row is Sienna (shimmery dark bronze), Nude (matte medium brown) and Truffle (shimmery taupe). The two liners are Bronze (shimmery bronze) and Taupe (shimmery gray).

I am not the biggest fan of this palette, the colors are wonderful, but the payoff leaves a little to be desired. As you can see in the swatches, the colors don't go on very dark. I put them on the inside of my arm. I am very pale a they can hardly be seen. For the amount of money that is spent on this I would think the colors would have more pigment. I know that the other shadows Smashbox makes are much more pigmented. I think the pricepoint should be a little lower.

Today I wore Stone in the crease, Sienna on the outer edge of the lid and under the eye. On the lid I wore Sugar and under the brow I wore Vanilla. I used the Taupe cream liner on the upper lid. For mascara I used Maybelline's Volume Express Falsies in Black. I used the Smashbox Pose Rush Blush previously reviewed and Urban Decay's Stardust lipgloss in Space Cowboy, also previously reviewed.
