In Walgreens one day I was looking for a new moisturizer for the day that had sunscreen it and I happened upon Neutrogena’s Rapid Tone Repair moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (retailing for around $19.99). What I liked about it was that it had a stabilized retinol for daytime use and Vitamin C (ascorbic acid). Often it is not the ingredients themselves but how the ingredients are mixed together that make a product work so well. The sunscreens are chemical: avobenzone 2%, homosalate 4%, ocitisalate 4% and octocrylene 2%. I don’t have any problems wearing chemical sunscreens but I know many people do, so this would not be for them. This product also comes in a night form, without sunscreen.
This product claims to work quickly in just one week. It boosts surface skin cell renewal to brighten the skin’s tone and help reverse dark spots to reveal more even, younger looking skin. Increased clarity and radiance, diminished discoloration and blotchiness will also be noticed. Of course, that is what the box says.
The above photograph was taken October 1,2012. I had just started to use the Rapid Tone Repair. I am wearing foundation but even still you can see the many freckles I have. Look under my eyes and on my forehead.
If you look at the photograph taken on October 11, 2012, you can see that there is some significant lightening of freckles on the forehead and underneath the eye. I am pleasantly surprised at how much it has lightened in just two weeks. I do believe that this is due to the retinol and Vitamin C working synergistically to diminish the dark spots, freckles and any age spots.
If you are considering purchasing a “spot” lightening product, this might be a good choice for you. As you can see, the spots are definitely lightened. For around $19.99, that is a great choice for anyone with a tight budget.
