Review: Too Faced Boudoir Beauty Spring Collection

DSC09772DSC09783

As soon as I got the email that Too Faced Cosmetics had their spring collection up, I was on the website ordering! Yes, I am a big fan of their collections. This spring they have two cute palettes. The first, Boudoir Eyes ($36.00) is housed in a tin and has 9 eye shadows. It is similar to their usual offerings. The second, called No Makeup Makeup ($39.00) is a tin of made up of items needed for the perfect face. Let’s see whether or not they are worthy of your dollars.

Boudoir Eyes

The Boudoir Eyes tin houses a guide that supposedly shows you how to create 3 different glamorous eyes in 3 steps and in 3 minutes. There is a Day Look, a Classic Look and a Fashion Look. All of these seem very straight forward and are looks that anyone can accomplish. The directions are easy, they tell you which color to put where and there is an eye guide that shows you where the color should go.

Some of the colors are repeats and some are brand new. The colors are: In The Buff (light matte cream), Satin Sheets (shimmery pink-gold), Birthday Suit (shimmery light pink-taupe), Fuzzy Handcuffs (matte medium pink), Sugar Walls (glittery, shimmery mauve), Lap Dance (shimmery  medium taupe), Voulez-Vouz (shimmery violet eggplant), Garter Belt (matte taupe gray), French Tickler (glittery gold black). As you can see from the swatches above, all of them showed up fairly well, which is good. They have good pigmentation. Also, when I used them there was not any fallout, another plus. The shadows are soft, but not so soft that you use too much of the shadow when putting it on the brush.

No Makeup Makeup

The No Makeup Makeup palette has a mirror inside underneath the guide shown here. The guide is also similar to the one for the Boudoir Eyes, it has 3 looks with 3 steps in 3 minutes. There is Wake Up Makeup, Nude Radiance and Red Carpet Contour.

The No Makeup Makeup palette has a Bronzing Veil, a Blush, a Crème Blush, a Luminizer, a Brightener and a Concealer. The bronzer is a very light color, as you can see on my forearm. I am pale and I find it very suitable for me. The blush and crème blush are both bright pink. I put the crème blush on and blended it in and it looked like I had been blushing. I added the bright pink blush on and wow, that was bright pink! That had to be blended out with my powder brush. The brightener looked great under my eyes, it made them pop. I like the luminizer, I added it just above the blush and it added some nice highlights. The concealer is too dark for me, it is a medium to dark color. That is the only thing I don’t like about this palette. As you can see from the swatches, everything looks good, has good pigmentation, my only concern is the concealer and I can forgive that!

For this look today I used the following eye shadows from the Boudoir Eyes palette: Lap Dance in the crease, French Tickler on the outer edge of the lid and under the crease and under the eye, then blended up into the crease with Lap Dance. I then used Sugar Walls on the lid, blending into French Tickler. Under the brow I used Satin Sheets and blended it into Lap Dance. On the upper lid I used Too Faced’s Metal Eyed liquid eye liner in Brown Sugar (metallic brown). For mascara I used L’Oreal’s new Voluminous Power Volume 24hour Black Smoke mascara (has a matte smoky effect). On my cheeks I used the No Makeup Makeup palette: crème blush, with luminizer on top. Then powder to set. I then used bronzer under cheeks followed by blush on cheeks and a little blending to subdue the brightness. I used the Brighten under my eye as concealer, since I am so pale it works for me. For lipstick I used Revlon’s new Colorstay Ultimate Suede in Womenswear (pink with blue undertones).

I am very happy with these purchases. The eye palette can make nude or smoky eyes, which is great! And I love the No Makeup Makeup kit. The bronzer in it is probably the only bronzer I have ever seen that is light enough for me. There is great pigmentation is all of these colors and no fallout. I am giving these items two thumbs up! Right now they are available at www.toofaced.com. Soon to be available at all outlets where Too Faced is sold.

Here is my verdict on the Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Palette:

Pigmentation: ****

Smoothness:*****

Blending: *****

Wear: *****

Fallout: *****
