Review: Perricone MD Blue Plasma

DSC00516When I first about the Perricone MD Blue Plasma, I was extremely excited. Never mind the cost, this product is supposed to give you heavenly soft skin without irritation, redness, dryness or downtime that other peels give. Well, I had to have it.

I made a trip into one of the Sephora stores that occupies a JCPenney. Luckily they had just gotten it in. I squealed at the price (I will tell you later, so you don’t pass out). But this is of course supposed to be the best of the best.

It does come in a 2 oz. bottle, so that is a plus. And you really only need a tiny amount to do the whole face. The directions say apply once a day, I prefer nighttime. Do not rinse off. After application there is no tingling or redness.

Perricone MD Blue Plasma is supposed to exfoliate only the dead surface skin, it lifts off debris and purifies the skin and it rebalances the skin’s hydration with enriched water. There isn’t any damage to the skin, no tears or abrasions like you would find with scrubs, no dryness, no sensitivity and no down-time as with chemical peels. The results are luminous and radiant skin, unparalleled softness and smoothness and brightness due to lightening dark spots. The main thing I wanted to do is look at the ingredients to see how this product works. There is a salmon egg enzyme, that is what helps exfoliate only the dead skin cells. L-Carnitine helps to extract, unclog, purify, and promote cell turnover. It also has natural humectants. Ptersostilbene is an antioxidant that promotes brightening of the skin. Honokiol Magnolol is from the magnolia blossom, it helps soothe and prevents inflammation of the skin. What really interested me about the ingredients is urea. It is 3rd on the list of ingredients. Urea has many uses but in skincare it is used for hydration and exfoliation. On the feet it is used to remove calluses. It only removes dead skin though, which is why it is a perfect ingredient to be used in this product. There are a number of other ingredients in this solution that are good for hydration, such as hyaluronic acid.

Having used this for 2 months now, I can say this the Perricone MD Blue Plasma is definitely exfoliating. I have cut back on the peels I have been using (yes, it’s a miracle). I don’t have as many clogged pores, since this product is great at clearing out the debris. I also feel as if my skin is brighter and definitely more radiant. I have also been using a Vitamin C serum, so I can attest that part of the results are due to that too. Also, my skin feels like a baby’s butt. Seriously, soooooo soft. At 41, I have the best skin I have ever had.

Okay, so what is the price of this great product? Glad you asked. It is $95.00 for 2 oz. Yes, that is a little steep but remember that it is 2 oz. and not 1 oz. as with most treatment products. It is available on www.perriconemd.com, www.sephora.com, Sephora stores and anywhere that Perricone MD products are sold. If you have tried this, I would like to hear YOUR results too!

  2. How do you apply it? With cotton or with fingers? Thanks! Oh, and I'm thinking of buying it online. Is the bottle glass or plastic?

    1. It is applied with fingers, just a few drops. The bottle is glass. It is a nice, gentle exfoliant!

  3. I have quite a bit of sun damage, would you recommend this product for this situation. I haven't really tried anything this expensive before just the over the counter products that I really haven't had any luck with. I was also looking into the chemical peels what has your experience been with them.
