I received one of the Malin+Goetz products in the PopSugar Must Have box last month and loved it. It was the Detox Face Mask. So I was really excited to try some of their other products. Malin+Goetz is a line that was started by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz. Matthew Malin worked as a cosmetics buyer for Barneys New York, he then moved to Kiehl’s and eventually to Prada to develop and manage fragrance licensing with P&G. Andrew Goetz worked as Marketing Director for family-owned Vitra, a Swiss-based design manufacturer. They eventually developed a business plan for Malin+Goetz by 2002, launching the brand in March 2004.
The philosophy behind Malin+Goetz is that skincare should be simple. Starting with sensitive skin, the products are pH balanced. Andrew Goetz and Matthew Malin develop each and every product with their trusted chemist. The key to their amazing cleansers is hydration science. Amino acid-based cleansing agents thoroughly purify and hydrate the skin, helping to maintain a natural pH balance in the skin. Their advanced moisturizers complement the cleansers. They use natural fatty acids instead of pore clogging oils, silicones and waxes. Beneficial botanical extracts are used to enhance product performance.
One of the best things about the Malin+Goetz website is that when you look at a product description you can look at your specific skin type and get a s[specific product description depending on the skin type! Below is the basic information on the product, not necessarily for each skin type.
grapefruit face cleanser $30.00 8oz. / 236ml
The grapefruit face cleanser from Malin+Goetz is for all skin types, but is especially good for those with dry or sensitive skin or who have rosacea. It has 0.5% grapefruit extract. The foaming gel cleanser has amino-acid cleansing agents and does not have traditionally harsh detergents like most cleansers. It is not drying to the skin, irritating or does it strip the skin of its natural oils. This cleanser eliminates the need for a toner and is perfect for makeup removal. Especially eye makeup removal. Yes, even eye makeup! The grapefruit extract helps to prevent blemishes. Glycerin and sodium pca help to hydrate the skin.
jojoba face scrub $38.00 4 oz. / 118ml
The jojoba face scrub gently exfoliates the skin. It has calming cilantro that refreshes with hydrating amino acid exfoliation to effectively purify and it is pH balanced for all skin types, especially sensitive and fragile skins. A blend of 2.50% jojoba meal and polyethylene beads helps to get rid of dead skin cells and stimulates cell renewal without any irritation, drying or stripping. Use 2-3 times a week for best results. It can also be used in place of a cleanser. Just apply to the skin without any pressure and whisk makeup away!
I think that this scrub is one of the most gentle I have found. It is definitely non-irritating. Which is good for those with sensitive skins. It is also non-drying to the skin, and can be used often without leaving the skin feeling stripped.
replenishing face serum $68.00 1.0oz. / 30mL
The lightweight, oil-free serum is an intensive moisture-booster. Use right before applying a moisturizer to get a kick start for hydration. Can even be used under the eyes. A blend of complex amino acids and natural plant extracts, it can be used by all skin types. Hyaluronic acid draws moisture into the skin so that it intensely hydrates, add clarity, smoothes fine lines and restore elasticity, also to firm and moisturize. Chamomile, and panthenol soothe irritation and even the skin tone. It also has lavender, and geranium to help soothe, Vitamin E works as an anti-oxidant and sodium pca nourishes and hydrates.
This serum is a definite winner. It leaves the skin feeling plumped and hydrated. I love that it just sinks right into the skin and just leaves it feeling so soft. I can also see how it would work as a primer. Primed skin should be well hydrated and this would do the trick.
vitamin e face moisturizer $45.00 4oz. / 115ml
The vitamin e face moisturizer is an intense, hydrating moisturizer for daily use. It is oil-free and absorbs instantly and does not leave any residue on the skin. It provides pH balance for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. Natural anti-oxidants, hyaluronic acid, sodium pca, Vitamin E and B5 (panthenol), chamomile, allantoin, glycerin, milk and fatty acids nourish and calm the skin without irritation. Can be applied in layers for skin that needs extra hydration (eczema prone). This moisturizer eliminates the step of a traditional, drying “after shave” for the face and neck, legs, under arms or bikini area, as it works quite well as an after shave cream to soothe redness and irritation. Instantly absorbed, our botanically based moisturizer creates the ideal base or primer for makeup application, makeup artists go nuts for the vitamin e face moisturizer!
This moisturizer is the kind that really helps dry skin. It is good for all skin types, especially normal to dry skins. And dehydrated. If you are lacking in moisture, then add this to your routine. It sinks in and plumps up the skin, making it soft and smooth. It also has anti-irritant ingredients that will help with any redness and inflammation. It will definitely calm the skin and leave it feeling wonderful.
