A few months ago I reviewed BARESKIN Pure Brightening Serum Foundation from Bare Minerals. This foundation is an exceptional formula because it is a mineral foundation and a brightening serum in one. It has been clinically proven to correct the skin tone. This formula is extremely pure, it does not have any oil, silicones, parabens or fragrances. The formula is also non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic. It was made with just the barest minimum of ingredients. I was pretty happy with the foundation. Today I am doing an updated review, just adding a few shades, that were sent to me and my updated thoughts on the coverage.
Coverage is adaptable, from very sheer to full depending on what you want, with just a few drops. There are 20 shades to choose from, which is great for those who have trouble finding a good match. The foundation has an SPF of 20, in a mineral sunscreen form of titanium dioxide 11%. So for those of you who have problems with chemical sunscreens, this foundation is perfect for you! The lightening comes from Vitamin C and Lilac Plant Stem Cells. The base of the foundation is coconut-derived with jojoba-coated mineral pigments.
How to Apply: SHAKE. DROP. BUFF. This foundation has its very own Perfecting Face Brush that was designed just for BARESKIN Pure Brightening Serum Foundation. It has a fluid reservoir that allows for a no-mess application. Application of the foundation is very, very easy. I always apply a primer first, so that skin has a base for the foundation to cling to. I recommend Prime Time from Bare Minerals. It works very well. First, you have to shake the bottle of foundation. This is essential because the contents separate. As there are no “bad” ingredients (such as silicones) in the formula, shaking brings them together again. You can always start with 1-2 drops of foundation and work up to more. Or, if you know you need more coverage then start with more drops. For sheer to medium coverage apply 2-4 drops of foundation in the middle of the brush (in the indentation) and swirl and buff around the face. I start with the cheeks and work my way to the forehead and chin. For full coverage 4-6 drops or more is ideal. And again, swirl and buff around the face.
Below are four of the shades, from the 20 that are available. From the left is the lightest (bare porcelain). Bare porcelain if for the fairest skin with cool undertones. Bare linen is for light skin with neutral undertones. Bare natural is for medium skin with neutral undertones and bare nude is for medium skin with golden undertones.

With the 4-6 drops of foundation, the coverage is pretty good for me. I find that this foundation is not very heavy on the face. Which is a good thing. It is not going to be one of those really heavy foundations that sits on the skin and feels like a mask. I like the coverage and love that it melts right into the skin. It sets into a demi-matte finish, so if you have oily skin you might still need some powder to set it. If you have normal to dry skin then you will likely not need any powder to set it. The finish is very nice. I am so loving this foundation. It has quickly become one of my favorites. Keep an eye out for more reviews on Bare Minerals cosmetics. Now that I have discovered the line I am going to play around with some of the items!
After wearing it for a few months I have found that I always need to use more than a few drops. It is usually recommended to have a couple but I need at least 6 to get good coverage. I like the demi-matte finish, especially for summer. In the winter I prefer something more luminous. This is more of a spring/summer foundation for me. I also love how this just melds into the skin and becomes one with it. It really is a great foundation. I have also found that if you apply it with your fingers you need less drops. This means that the brush is holding on to some of the foundation. I also like that this foundation has skin brightening properties. After wearing it everyday for months, you should be able to see a difference in your skin. Hyperpigmentation should be lighter and skin tone should be more even. Another great foundation product by bare minerals is the Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream (http://bit.ly/18X05g6), you can read my review on it from the bit link. Both are great products and I recommend them for just about any skin type.
