First I want to say that I have absolutely the worst nails. They are horrible. I have had this kit for a while now and I have been trying to grow my nails out for two months hoping that I would have long nails to do the gel nails at home, so they would look fantastic. I have been taking biotin supplements for hair, nails and skin. The biotin helps hair and nails grow but it does not help my nails harden any at all. My nails are soft, weak and damn near impossible to keep from breaking. So, I finally decided to do the review on my short, stubby nails hoping that they would look okay.

I have for you today the Red Carpet Manicure Gel Polish Pro Kit. It is available from the Red Carpet Manicure website. This kit comes with everything you need to do a gel manicure at home. It retails for $80.00 and, let me say is worth every penny. I am not normally a nail polish kind of girl. I have tons of nail polish, I use it on my toenails (or used to before my back surgery), but I have never had a gel manicure. I have always wanted one though. I like the idea of having nail polish on my nails for more than a day. Around here I wash my hands so much a manicure would not last more than a day. The gel manicure would last at least a week if not at least 2 weeks.
The PRO kit contains everything you need to do the gel manicure in the comfort of your own home:

  • A Professional UV Light, USB port with AC Power Cord Adapter
  • PREP Max Adhesion
  • Structure Base Coat Gel
  • Brilliance Seal & Shine Top Coat Gel
  • Revitalize Nourishing Cuticle Oil
  • Red Carpet Reddy LED Gel Polish,
  • Purify PRE & POST Application Cleanser
  • ERASE Gel Nail Polish Remover
  • Red Carpet Manicure Instruction Card.
It is extremely important that the manicure gets cured under the LED light. That is what makes the difference between a regular and a gel manicure. The light is especially designed to cure RCM Structure, LED Gel Polish and Brilliance in seconds. The Red Carpet Manicure will last weeks with long wear and shine.
To begin: Make sure nails are clean and dry. Prepare nails with a regular manicure. First use the PREP Max Adhesion and wipe on nails to make sure there is no dust or anything on nails. Then use the RCM Max Adhesion and apply to nails. Prep from the cuticle to the free-edge, leaving the nail moisture free with no residue. This stuff evaporates quickly. Then apply The Structure Base Coat and Gel, apply a very thin layer from cuticle to free-edge. Seal the free-edge and make sure not to get on the skin. If you do get some on the skin, wipe away with the RCM Cleanser. But do this before you cure with the light.
Place all four fingers under the PRO Light and keep them there for 30 seconds so the base coat can be cured. The do the thumb for 30 seconds. The base coat will remain slightly sticky. Do not touch the nail at this time. Now apply the nail polish color you have selected.

The kit comes with a red color, Red Carpet Reddy. I was given some other colors to try, so I used The Final Touch (a shimmering gold). Apply a coat of the nail polish, make sure to go from cuticle to free-edge and try not to get on the skin. Use a clean cuticle stick to remove any polish from the skin prior to using the LED light. Now it is time to cure the polish. Place all four fingers in the light for 45 seconds. Then do the thumb. DO NOT TOUCH THE NAIL. If you would like, you can apply a second coat of polish and repeat the LED curing process. Now it is time for the top coat, RCM Brilliance. Brush on a very thin top coat of the RCM Brilliance Seal & Shine from cuticle to free-edge. DO NOT TOUCH THE NAIL. Place 4 fingers in the LED Light for 45 seconds, then the thumb. Now it is time to finish the manicure. Using the RCM Purify Pre & Post Application Cleanser, remove the sticky residue from the surface of each nail. Place a small amount of cleanser on a lint free pad and wipe the surface of each nail from cuticle to free-edge on all 10 nails. No color will come off on the pad. Nails will keep their high brilliance for weeks of wear. You are now Red Carpet Ready! If you have time, you can use the Cuticle Oil around the skin of the cuticles. Or wait and do it another time. It is essential to keep the skin of the cuticles from drying out and causing hang nails.

To remove the gel nail polish, it takes about 10 minutes. Use a buffing stick and stroke back and forth along the nail to remove the shine from the entire surface of the nail and scratch it up. Use the RCM Erase Gel Nail Polish Remover. Place a cotton pad saturated with the Erase on the nail and wrap it in aluminum foil. Wrapping in aluminum foil locks in body heat and keeps the remover from evaporating, accelerating the removal process. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes. After this, unwrap and using an orangewood stick, gently push off the color. You are ready for your next RCM manicure. Make sure to use the cuticle oil on the cuticles to keep them from drying out during this time.

I thought it was very easy to use the kit. I also thought the results were pretty. I liked the gold nail polish (I'm not really a fan of red). It it does indeed last a few weeks then I will be prett happy. I will post a follow up in two weeks.

The Red Carpet Manicure PRO Kit retails for $80.00 and comes with everything listed above. Individual LED Gel Polishes are $10.00 each.
