tarte cosmetics has been in the cosmetics business for 20 years now. They just recently started to get into the skincare business. Luckily I received this product in one of my subscription boxes and decided I would write a review on it.
Truth or Dare multi acid & C-Serum is an interesting product because it takes two of skincare's most important elements, AHAs and Vitamin C, and includes them in one main product. This potent double shot of glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, apple extract and Vitamin C, brightens, exfoliates and hydrates skin for a revived younger looking skin. It has two types of Vitamin C (L ascorbic acid, the most common and k3 vita c) known to help promote collagen production & to reduce the appearance of fine lines. Glycolic acid lightly exfoliates, which means that the skin looks brighter, smoother and prepped for absorbing the other invigorating ingredients. Hyaluronic acid and apple extract hydrate & plump skin's appearance. Phytic acid, from rice grains, is high in antioxidants and helps protect skin from free radicals. As always, tarte products are formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, SLS and gluten. This product is dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic. It has been clinically shown to brighten & hydrate skin over time.
This product is potent, it addresses skin's top concerns (fine lines, texture and dullness) in just one pump. A consumer panel result found that:
- 96% said skin looked and felt smoother
- 93% said their skin looked and felt brighter, more even and healthier in one week.
How To Use: apply 1-2 pumps onto clean skin morning or night. Make sure to use SPF30 or higher if using in the morning. Alternate use with knockout to get the benefits of different acids.
I love this product because it is one of the first to combine Vitamin C and AHAs. More products need to do this. It helps cut down on skincare steps. This way you get two steps in one product. Actually three, with the hyaluronic acid. The glycolic acid isn't a very high percentage but that is okay, and it works out well for most people because they aren't used to acids. I think it is a nice product for most people to use in exchange for several other serums.
This serum is recommended for just about any skin type. It works to exfoliate skin and lightly hydrate skin. It is very light on the skin and absorbs instantly. I think it works great on mature skin, dry skin, normal skin, combination skin, oily skin and even acenic skin. I would use it on acneic skin even if there were pustules, just pat onto the skin don't rub.
