A few years ago I developed a rash on my neck that started during one of my vacations in Greece. The rash only got worse as the heat there got worse. It was itchy and inflamed. I went to the dermatologist to discover I had eczema. But only on my one side of my neck. Eczema is an immune system response to the body, usually a histamine reaction to a substance. It can develop at any time in life but usually develops in childhood. Eczema tends to run in families too. My oldest daughter suffers from a severe case of it and breaks out in hives and severe rashes when confronted with irritating ingredients that touch her skin.

I have, over the past 6 years, developed a routine for dealing with my eczema. Mine tends to only act up during the summer months or when it encounters active ingredients such as AHAs, BHAs and Retinoids. I use these but avoid them on my neck. Recently I had an outbreak of eczema on my neck because I have been dealing with more stress than usual. So my neck flared up and I had a large red patch on the one side.

Below is a picture of it:

After using DERMA E Eczema Relief Cream for a few days, my patch cleared up. This cream is a hypoallergenic and gluten-free formula that moisturizes, soothes and relieves scaly, flaky and itchy dry skin associated with psoriasis and eczema. It does not contain any steroids, coal tar or pine tar. The cream has been formulated with the following soothing ingredients:
  • colloidal oatmeal: a skin protectant that helps relieve itchiness and skin irritation.
  • neem leaf: contains fatty acids that keep the skin moisturized and hydrated while restoring skin's protective moisture barrier.
  • bearberry extract: an antioxidant that helps to smooth and brighten the skin.
  • burdock extract: soothing properties help to resolve skin issues regardless of skin type.
Apply as needed to the entire body, concentrating on areas of dryness and irritation.

Here is my skin after using the cream for a few days:

Personally, I found this cream to be one of the quickest acting ones that helped relieve my redness and itching. The active ingredient is 1% colloidal oatmeal, which has been found to be extremely soothing and healing to the skin. But not only does it have colloidal oatmeal it also has the soothing ingredients of burdock extract to soothe the skin and neem leaf to help protect the skin's fragile natural moisture barrier and bearberry extract to smooth and brighten the skin, not leaving any marks on the skin. You will notice that there is still a little bit of a shadow where the rash had been but that lightens up over time.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who suffers from mild to moderate eczema. If yours is more severe and needs the help of a dermatologist, then this might not be the cream for you. There is a biologic out that has been known to work very well in extreme cases of eczema. Otherwise, this is a great cream that works very well and should help mild to moderate itching, redness, irritation, flaking and scaling of the skin.
