I love to review foundations. Mainly because I love to try them out so much. To me the foundation is the basis for the entire face, thus the name foundation. It is what gives your makeup it's entire look, your skin it's glow or lack thereof it you choose to use a mattifying foundation. Either way, a foundation is the starting point that you should choose for your skin. It should match your facial skin and your neck and you should NOT be using foundation on your neck as I have seen people doing on videos. That defeats the purpose of foundation. It goes only on the face.
Recently I purchased NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation. I had wanted to try this and was very excited. OH MY GOODNESS! Talk about full coverage. You are warned that it is a full coverage foundation on the website but it really is heavily pigmented. Not medium to full but heavy coverage foundation. This is ideal for those who have a lot to cover up or who want to have a porcelain doll like texture to their skin. I wear Mont Blanc, which is Light 2 (fair skin with neutral undertones).
This foundation gives all-day 16-hour wear with a breakthrough in matte foundation. True color oxidation-resistant too. Full, natural looking coverage in an Anti-Oxidation Complex to help prevent color shifting, to help protect skin from pollution and to help protect against blue-light damage. New Hydramatte Balancing Complex balances excess sebum while keeping skin hydrated with a combination of micro-algae and Bio-Hyaluronic Acid. Superior Oil Absorbing Powders create a smooth, mattified, almost second-skin look. Available in 34 shades for all skin tones. Transfer-proof, humidity-proof, sweat-proof and shine-proof too! It is also oil-free.
I love the fact that it is full coverage but let me warn you not to use more than a tiny amount and work from there. I apply it with a Beautyblender. The website says medium to full coverage but I think it really is full coverage. I mean no more than a pea sized amount. Then if you need more, use more. It does go on matte and actually stay that way. I used a moisturizer on underneath and wore it on a warm day. My skin stayed matte all day long. I also like the fact that this goes on matte and stays that way after setting it with loose powder. There is a concealer that matches it too. I purchased this also, but that is another review altogether.
Here is a swatch of the foundation in Mont Blanc. I put one tiny drop on my hand and from this you can see how thick the coverage is. It is seriously the fullest coverage in a foundation I have ever used.
Here are two pictures of me wearing the foundation. In these pictures I am wearing just the the bare minimum of foundation, concealer and a little of the Jeffree Star Luminous Setting Powder.

Notice that the foundation is not completely matte to the point of hiding all of the light. It is a soft matte foundation. Meaning that it is meant to still reflect a little bit of light off of the skin without absorbing all of it. It is a beautiful foundation and is perfect to wear under masks, since it is transfer-proof. sweat-proof, humidity-proof and wears for 16 hours long. It makes a great foundation. I am very happy with it. Also, because one needs so little the bottle with last a long, long time. What I really like is that it covers all of my photo damage up quite easily and lasts through mask wear. The only caveat is that you need to wear a good sunscreen underneath this. That is still a must. It is a professional foundation, for makeup artists, which is why sunscreen is not included (so there's no flashback in photos).
NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation retails for $40.00 and can be purchased online at www.narscosmetics.com and SEPHORA.
