This year, 2021, is all about keeping skin happy. And that means no longer compromising on stripping the skin's natural moisture barrier and its natural lipids. There are cleansers out there for everyone and any skin type. Yes, if you have dry skin you can still use a gel cleanser and dry out your skin.

Peach & Lily Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser is specifically made for to respect the skin's natural ecosystem (microbiome) while deeply and thoroughly cleansing skin. The result is skin that is hydrated and deeply calmed. Peach & Lily worked with their partner lab to create a next generation cleanser that is sulfate-free but draws out impurities. All without stripping skin dry or disrupting the natural moisture barrier. With a pH level of 5.5 and spiked with a cocktail of super-soothing ingredients such as cica, chamomile and camellia. This breakthrough cleanser starts out like a silky clear gel and lathers into the softest, milkiest foam for the perfect deep cleanse imaginable. Skin is clean, hydrated and calmed. Suitable for all skin types, even those with acne prone and sensitive skin. This cleanser has a light calming herbal scent with top notes of lavender and base notes of camellia and chamomile. The skin concerns that this cleanser addresses are: dryness, dullness, oiliness, acne, sensitivity, redness, and pores. It is particularly good for oily skin, normal skin and dry skin. Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser is cruelty-free, clean, 100% worry-free, vegan and gluten-free.

I received this cleanser in one of my BoxyCharm boxes and was very excited to try it out. It looks innocent enough. First of all, the ingredients in this cleanser are exciting. Not only is glycerin the second ingredient, but there are two different kinds of hyaluronic acid. That means three ways of keeping the skin hydrated. The surfactants included are very gentle, I won't go into them by name but suffice it to say that it is sulfate-free and the surfactants that are included in this cleanser for foaming capabilities are quite gentle. And, not to mention all of the botanical extracts! There are many but I will just name a couple of them. Cica is an ingredient that soothes and repairs irritated skin, making it ideal for any sort of inflammation such as acne, dry skin or sensitivity. Camellia is a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins, phytosqualene and Omega-6 fatty acids. These ingredients provide skin enhancing antioxidant and moisturizing properties. It also has lipids that posses excellent emollient moisturizing properties. Chamomile is well known for its soothing and calming capabilities. One of its main ingredients, azulene, is used to soothe redness and irritation. It also treats active acne breakouts, killing bacteria, and preventing future breakouts from taking place.

To use, squeeze a small dime size amount on hands. Lather up with water and massage into clean, dry skin on face and neck. Rinse with warm water. Pat skin dry. Can be used in the am and pm daily.

I love how gentle this cleanser is and how nicely it foams up. After cleansing with a cleansing oil, I like a nice, foaming cleanser to finish off my double cleansing routine. Or, in the morning just to cleanse my face and start the day. This fits the bill both times. It is gentle enough to use on its own or after a cleansing oil. I would even recommend that one could use it to remove a light face of makeup if you wanted to do so. I however, recommend using this after an oil based cleanser when wearing makeup. This cleanser does an excellent job of calming and soothing the skin, just as described. It makes skin feel soft and supple without feeing as if your skin's moisture mantle has been disturbed. I happen to have dry skin and can use this cleanser quite well. In fact, it can be used daily.

I would definitely recommend this cleanser for any skin type, but especially oily, normal and dry skin types (as mentioned above). Even acneic skins. It has calming ingredients in it that help soothe the skin. This cleanser is great for skins that need to be hydrated but do not want to strip the skin of its natural moisture barrier (which should be all skin types honestly). It even respects the skin's microbiome. Honestly this is a great cleanser and is something I would recommend for even sensitive skins as long as you have performed a patch test first.
