Review: elf MINTMELT Cooling Face Primer #elfcosmetics #MINTMELT #CoolingFacePrimer #Beauty #Makeup #cosmetics
1.01 fl.oz./30mL $8.00
As soon as I saw that Jeffree Star was going to review the elf MINTMELT collection, I hopped online and bought a few of the items right away. I knew that they would immediately sell out after his review came out and I was right. I purchased the two eyeshadow palettes, the mask and the cooling face primer, which I am going to review here. The MINTMELT Collection is probably elf's most popular one yet. And with good reason. All of the products are cute, fun, inexpensive and worth the money.
The elf MINTMELT Cooling Face Primer is a wonderful primer. This hydrating and refreshing gel makes skin has a unique texture that cools skin upon contact and helps to keep makeup in place. It has a wonderful vanilla mint scent that is not overpowering, but is light and fun. The gel itself is light green and very thick, almost viscous. Upon using, the primer sits on the skin at first and then slowly starts to meld with it, leaving the skin very dewy. This is a hydrating primer, so it is great for skin that is dry, mature and normal in skin texture. One nice thing is that although it is very thick, it is not sticky at all. Some of the ingredients in this primer are listed as containing a lot of humectants such as butylene glycol, glycerin, and sodium hyaluronate. The primer also contains lemon balm, a member of the mint family. It has hydrating effects on the skin. It also contains niacinamide, which helps to regulate sebum. The cooling effect comes from peppermint leaf water and menthol. If you are sensitive to any of these, do not use. I personally found both of them very refreshing and cooling.
Here is a photo of me wearing my foundation over the primer:
Directions for use: apply evenly to face prior to makeup application. Once applied, wait 30 seconds before applying makeup. Use clean fingers to pat product into the skin. The warmth of your fingers will help the product melt into the skin for an even application.
The MINTMELT Cooling Face Primer is one of the best primers I have ever used. Seriously. This product should be made a regular part of the elf line. I love how dewy it made my foundation look. I used it under Revlon's Light Cover Foundation and found my foundation to go on very smoothly, evenly and wear well all day long. I have some fine lines on my forehead and it made them disappear with the hydrating ingredients.
