Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream

1.7 fl.oz./50mL $32.00
Over the holidays I purchased a Kiehl's skincare set that had some of their Ultra Facial Cream in it. It is a perennial #1 best seller. Having dry skin, I was happy to try it out.
The nice thing about this cream is that it is made specifically to provide 24-hour moisture for those of us who desperately need it. It has a unique lightweight texture that makes it great for any skin type (note: that I said any skin type, I would not normally recommend this cream for acneic or oily skin types but it is that light), including sensitive skin. The cream absorbs easily into skin with an ultra-lightweight texture. Skin is left incredibly soft, smooth and visibly healthier after use. Formulated with glacial glycoprotein and olive-derived squalane, it is non-greasy and immediately leaves skin 2.3x more hydrated, even in skin's driest areas. Tested in everyday and extreme environments.
Their Ultra Facial Cream has been clinically tested* to smooth and soften dry skin. You will start to see results immediately, as dry skin is instantly smoother application. In just one week** skin is:
- 18% smoother
- 33% softer
- 11% healthier looking
(*Average result for improvement in skin dryness based on a two-week clinical study on multiple skin tones and ethnicities. Individual results may vary. **Results based on a four-week clinical test.)
After after cleansing and toning, apply a dime-sized amount to skin. Can be used day and night as the ultimate compliment to your skincare routine. For daytime use Ultra Facial Cream with SPF or apply a SPF over this.
As mentioned, the ingredients in the Ultra Facial Cream make it appropriately suited to any skin type. First of all, it contains a lot of glycerin, the well known humectant that draws moisture deep into the skin, well into the dermis. It also contains glacial glycoprotein that are originally sourced from Antarctic sea glaciers. It deeply hydrates the skin and maintains the skin's moisture balance. Squalane is a highly refined moisturizing oil derived from olives known for is exception affinity to skin. It is known to help strengthen and restore the skin's moisture barrier. Apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, rice bran oil olive fruit oil and sweet almond oil are all known to deeply moisturize the skin. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that kills free radicals. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that helps clear dead skin cells from the hair follicles and is an anti-inflammatory. Citric acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that helps exfoliate dead skin cells and brightens the skin. Both of these acids are in a low enough concentration that they would be good enough for any skin type, especially good for sensitive skin.
As you can see, even though this product contains a lot of oils, they are listed in the ingredients in descending order and count for less than 1% of the total formula. Glycerin is the 2nd ingredient and it is going to be the one that will count the most towards hydration, then squalane. For me it is always about ingredients and how they work. Ingredients are what drive the formula and are what make the product. This product hydrates extremely well. It is lightweight and leaves skin feeling soft, smooth and supple. What more can one ask for? No wonder it is their #1 best selling cream!
