Backstage today at Creatures of the Wind and Tadashi Shoji, butter LONDON’s Global Colour Ambassador, Katie Jane Hughes, created fashion-forward nail looks that perfectly complimented the S/S 16 collections.
Designer: Creatures of the Wind
Lead Manicurist: Katie Jane Hughes
The Scoop: Simple yet bold, the nail look was inspired by the hippie meets punk vibe of the collection. Four high-shine nail colors were assigned to models based upon their look.
The Nail Look – here’s how Katie created the look:
- For white nails: apply two coats of Nail Lacquer in Cotton Buds.
- For blue nails: apply two coats of Nail Lacquer in Skive (NEW for Spring ’16).
- For black nails: apply two coats of Nail Lacquer in Union Jack Black.
- For yellow nails, apply one coat of Nail Lacquer in Cotton Buds, followed by two coats of Nail Lacquer in Cheeky Chops.
- Finish with one coat of Patent-Gel Topcoat for a thick, high-shine finish.
On the toes…
1. Apply two coats of Nail Lacquer in Union Jack Black.
Designer: Tadashi Shoji
Lead Manicurist: Katie Jane Hughes
The Scoop: The collection was inspired by Tadashi’s own memories of Japan. The nail look incorporated pale colors and a soft ombré to reflect Tadashi’s “blooming nostalgia,” and “whispers of a Japanese Garden” inspiration.
The Nail Look - here’s how Katie created the look:
- Apply one coat of Nail Foundation to clean, dry nails.
- Using the Ombré Brush, dip the tip of the brush into Nail Lacquer in Cotton Buds, sweep the brush lightly from the top of the nail, beginning from a different angle on each nail.
- Repeat with Nail Lacquer in Muggins.
- Repeat with Nail Lacquer in Molly Coddled.
- Finish with one coat of Hardwear P.D. Quick Topcoat for a soft yet shiny finish.
On the toes…
1. Apply one coat of Nail Lacquer in Pink Ribbon to create an almost opaque base.
2. Apply one coat of Nail Lacquer in Nude Stilettos to soften the pink in the base lacquer, creating the prefect nude nail.
