La Roche-Posay is a well known brand in Europe. So well known that when you go into a pharmacy it is one of the first brands you will see. They make skincare. sun care and body care that is some of the best in the world. And since they have brought their brand to the United States, I have been a happy camper. I am absolutely in love with a few of their products.

One product in particular that I don't want overlooked is their CICAPLAST Baume B5. This product is used for extreme healing of irritation, tightness. redness and tingling of skin. It is the perfect cream to use when you may have overdone your retinoid or have an eczema flare-up. I recently discovered this little gem of a cream on Amazon and fell in love with it. It is a multi-purpose balm to sooth and protect irritated skin and can be used by the entire family (babies, children and adults). This product contains two main soothing ingredients ProVitamin B5 (panthenol) and Madecassoside (a repairing active ingredient) as well as anti-bacteria agents. The balm soothes, nourishes and protects dry skin to repair the natural moisture barrier function of the skin. Not only is it soothing, but it is non-greasy and doesn't leave any white marks/texture on the skin or clothing.

The balm contains a whopping 5% Panthenol, which is a Vitamin that is very soothing to the skin. It also contains Madecassoside, an extract of the Centella asiatica plant, it aids in epidermal renewal. There are also minerals such as copper, zinc and manganese. Both of these together help to recover the natural skin barrier and soothe irritated dry, areas of skin. It has a rich, nourishing texture that soaks into the skin without feeling greasy or leaving a mess behind, making it a perfect choice for diaper rash cream, eczema repair or dry skin. The anti-bacterial agents also help keep infection at bay. This product has been tested on 14 different skin conditions, such as: diaper rash, dry skin, chapped lips, atopic dermatitis, post-laser, post-epilation, post-dermatological procedures (chemical peels, microdermabrasion, etc.) and peri-oral dermatitis. CICAPLAST Baume B5 would be also good on skin that has mild burns, such as sunburn or a first degree burn. It is fragrance-free.

To use: apply to clean dry skin twice a day, as needed. Apply generously  on body, face and lips. Avoid the eye contour area. Do not swallow. Keep out of reach of babies and young children.

The reason I first purchased this cream was for my eczema, which flares up mostly during the summer months when it is hot out but will often flare-up when I apply a retinoid or AHA too much on my neck (that is where it is localized). I also use it when my skin gets too dry/irritated from using retinoids often (I try to use them every day but sometimes my skin doesn't like that). Believe it or not, this repairs the irritation/damage to the skin overnight, within hours. It will definitely make a great cream for diaper rash (wishing I had this when my daughters were little). And I have introduced my daughter to this, who suffers from severe eczema/atopic dermatitis. She only uses Cetaphil on her skin but during a flare-up needs something to repair the natural moisture barrier.

Repair of the natural moisture barrier is key to fixing many of the skin's problems. And is what causes many of the skin's issues to begin with. Any time there is a disruption to its function, irritation and dryness will develop. So if you have any issues related to the above, try out this cream. You will not be disappointed.
