Hyaluronic acid (HA) is well known for its ability to keep skin looking plump and well hydrated. It penetrates deep within the epidermis to hydrate and plump skin cells, keeping skin looking younger longer. Fine lines and wrinkles look decreased, dry skin looks well hydrated and dehydrated skin looks plump and soft again. One particular hyaluronic acid serum that I really like is by Glow Recipe, their Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum.
The Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum is your go-to serum for plump, radiant skin. This silky watergel serum features a unique blend of 3 different types of plum and 5 different molecular weights of next-generation hyaluronic acid that fill each of the 5 epidermal skin layers with hydration for visibly plumper skin. Combined with vegan collagen and vegan silk protein, this lightweight, oil-free serum deeply hydrates dry, dehydrated skin and diminishes the appearance of visible fine lines for healthy, bouncy, youthful skin. With this serum you can plump each epidermal layer with intense, saturated hydration. The 3 types of antioxidant rich plum in this serum are Kakadu, Illawarra and Burdekin. Other excellent ingredients in this serum include vegan collagen and vegan silk protein. These are potent, plant-based powerhouse ingredients that help support a healthy-looking natural skin barrier by guarding against free radicals and hydrating skin. Glycerin is a humectant that also helps to hydrate the skin, but actually hydrates deeper, into the dermis than HA. This allows the skin to feel super soft and it looks younger because fine lines and wrinkles look reduced. Panthenol (Vitamin B5) helps to repair the skin by hydrating, soothing and rejuvenating it; resulting in a healthy natural skin barrier. This serum is vegan and cruelty-free. It is free of parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, silicones, phthalates, drying alcohols, synthetic dyes and synthetic fragrances. The natural fragrance of this product is derived from materials of 100% natural origin such as plants, fruits and vegetables. To use: after cleansing skin and before using moisturizer, dispense 1-2 pumps. Gently pat onto slightly damp face and neck until fully absorbed. Use daily, morning and evening. For deeper hydration, layer with Pineapple-C Bright Serum to achieve maximum potency. Blend Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid together for soft, supple, radiant, healthy skin. The serum evaporates faster on the skin in drier climates. To prevent this from happening, make sure to apply something occlusive that traps the moisture in the skin so it may continue to plump, heal and hydrate the skin. Look for moisturizers with emollients and nourishing ingredients (like Glow Recipe's Pink Juice and Banana Soufflé). It can be mixed with Pink Juice, Pineapple C Bright Serum or Banana Soufflé. The best application method is to apply it first and then apply the next serum or your moisturizer. You can add 1-2 pumps into your moisturizer step for a more hydrating finish.
How well does this product work? How does it compare to other hyaluronic acid serums? Well first of all it works wonderfully. I normally do not use HA serums because I find them to be limiting in hydration. HA only penetrates the epidermis and therefore doesn't usually make that much difference on the skin. I have found that serums with PGA (polyglutamic acid) and HA together usually make more of a difference. However, this serum contains 3 different types of plums, 5 different types of HA, vegan collagen, vegan silk protein, glycerin and panthenol. It is a hydrating powerhouse. Not only that, but it actually hydrates all 5 layers of the epidermis as well as the dermis. I found that this serum is MUCH better than any other hyaluronic acid serum I have ever used. The reason is simply because it hydrates the skin so well. No other HA serum does this. After use skin feels softer and more plump. My fine lines were decreased and barely visible. Skin was so much softer and younger looking. This is definitely the best hyaluronic acid serum on the market today.
Three different types of plum were used because they help to hydrate instantly and overtime. They also help to stimulate skin's own natural hyaluronic acid synthesis. Each plum has its own superpower. Kakadu helps to brighten the skin and is high in antioxidants. Illawarra has the anthocyanins which help to decrease the amount of UV light that reaches the top layer of skin. Burdekin contains high amounts of magnesium, calcium, zinc and potassium. Magnesium helps to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. Calcium helps play a role in the natural barrier function and cell turnover. Zinc can prevent and treat acne and sun damage. Finally, potassium helps with the growth of new cells. Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum uses 5 types of HA and 5 molecular weights to deeply hydrate and plump the skin. Hyaluronic acid is only available in 5 weights, so all 5 were used in this. Because this product's main focus is to hydrate the skin and give it a beautiful glow, it was important to include high-tech, high-performing HA that plump and hydrate at different layers.
This product is suitable for dry, normal, combination and oily skin types. It is a non-comedogenic product because HA is a humectant and will not cause clogging of the hair follicles. Apparently research has also shown that HA also reduces sebum overproduction in the skin, which is a huge contributor to oiliness and breakouts. It is highly recommended that this serum be applied to damp skin and adding a moisturizer after serum to seal in all of the nutrients.
